If you live in Canada they will send you a free replacement lock because the old model has been recalled in Canada.
hmmmmm…. 2 weeks ago, we ordered the replacement lockset for our Axis...and paid $150 including shipping....I am presuming our locksets are similar...we did use the inside plate from our original lockset..and I think someone said if you require a new one...it is about $30 more.
and...there have been some folks who have ordered the steel plunger...
we were thinking of doing that so we have a backup just in case...

good luck !

Is there a ref. or link you have to the recall in Canada? I have looked on their website and cannot find it. Thanks In Advance!

Stay cool

Hi
I know this thread is a bit stale but I have got the steel plunger replacement (and am trying to replace my broken one. I was hoping to replace it without taking the lock off the exterior door but find I can't do the last step;-)
NOw I'm trying to take off the lock panel --without damaging my exterior paint job. Mine seems to be glued in place so I will need to pry it off.

Has anyone experienced this and is there a way to do it without damage?

Then I will have to reinstall the repaired lock panel.
Could anyone who has done this outline the procedure to reseal the original lock panel to the exterior door? (see new lock panel come with foam seals).
Nancy

Blow dryer to soften the goo.

Reseal with caulking of your choice.
I'd suggest some tub and tile caulking.
It seals but doesn't get stupid about gluing things together.

Thanks for blow dryer suggestion... Worked perfectly! Have lock reassembled and all working fine now. Nancy

Sorta like locking a convertible car. $280 radio vs $1400 convertible top. Besides you need a locked storage building to stop a determined thief now that there are battery powered cutoff saws.

That’s the truth! If a thief wants in she’ll get in. Especially in an RV. Most often they break a roof vent cover and go in and unlock the door. There’s usually even a convenient ladder on the back to make it easy. I had occasion to defeat a padlock recently. I was amazed how simple it was with a battery powered Dremel and a cutoff wheel.
