Request advice on selling 2017 Thor Vegas
We have owned the RV for 3 years and love it but have not been able to use it the way we hoped we would. Any advice on selling this RV that still has a loan would be helpful, thank you

You can either sell it yourself or try one of the consignment dealers out there. PPL in Texas being, perhaps, one of the biggest. With a loan selling it yourself might be a little more difficult than you’d like because the buyer has to give you the money before you can give him the title. Its not a for sure deal killer since it’s an understandable complication, but it doesn’t help. Perhaps you can find other money temporarily to pay off the note prior to selling - a personal loan, home equity or even a temporary loan on retirement funds? Then just list the coach on RV Trader or one of the other specialized classified listings. Be realistic in pricing and be prepared for it to take several months to find a buyer. Sorry to hear it’s not working out and good luck finding a buyer.

Yours is such a basic question I'm going to suggest a consignment lot and nothing else.
They'll do the advertising, store it, show it, help with the payoff timing, let you know IN ADVANCE if you're going to have to write a huge personal check to rid yourself of the rv(there's a VERY good chance you'll have to), and they'll deal with the buyer, your bank, their bank and the licensing questions.
Or
They'll at least guide you all through the process because they won't get paid if they don't personally guide you.
Have you called for a payoff amount?
What vehicle(exactly) and with what options and miles?
We can tell you today, pretty close, if the net will be $5,000 to you or if you'll pay $30,000 from you.
And
If your payment is $1,000 a month and you take five months to find a buyer, you should have sold it five months earlier for $6,000 less.
Keep that in mind. Unless you need a hobby, sell it to the first person who can buy it for anything that doesn't financially destroy you.

You can always sell it back to a dealer. Yes you will take something of a loss, but, you basically drive it in, hand them the keys, registration and title, and they write you a check, All done! If you owe a lot on it, its a slightly different story, because if you are upside down on the loan vs value, its going to cost you dollars to unload it.

I see from other posts that you have a 24.1 floorplan.
That's a very popular floorplan & you are definitely selling at the right time.
[Mod Edit]...there's currently very little quality used inventory. And the price of the new 24.1 floorplan is not being reduced very much by dealers.
So it's a Seller's market right now.
If your Vegas is detailed out, you should be able to sell quickly.

Get it up for sale now and ask top dollar. Both new and used RVs are scarce right now. Can only build a limited amount of new ones for lack of parts (many parts suppliers reconfigured to manufacture and sell PPE). And used ones are flying off the lots. You might even inquire at places like Lazy Days, Camping World, etc and inquire if they want to make an offer.

We are looking to buy another RV ( we will be selling our 2018 Thor Four Winds 31W), how to we handle buying one that is not paid off? Little nervous to pay someone purchase price when not receiving the title? Appreciate any help, thanks, Dan
Also, what if we find one out of town that has a note on it?

If you took very good care of it, clean it up and put it on Craigslist, local paper and other free to low cost places in your area.
I can only speak from experience on this. I bought a new Thor Synergy in 2017 for a good price from General RV in Michigan. I put it on Craigslist and sold it last week for $2,000 more than it cost me. It was very clean, well kept, low miles and I found a buyer that wanted that exact coach. Dealers offered (about half what I paid new and about 1/4 of the original MSRP. I got so pissed that the dealers wanted to make $30,000 $40,000 profit selling my coach only to pay me what they called "wholesale" that I just decided to sell it myself and boy am I glad I did. You will make the biggest return by selling it yourself.

I would go the consignment route. Places like PPL, do a thorough inspection, detail, they advertise, have a service department, etc. They do all the paperwork and have the knowledge of how to sell RVs. Not knocking Facebook or Craigslist, but you will have to do the title transfer, payoff, etc.

I highly recommend you ignore this idea of selling to a dealer. This is the worst possible thing you could do short of just putting a torch to it. All the dealer will do is bend you over. Why would anybody take something worth say $50,000 and sell it to a dealer for $25,000? When navigating this forum read everything as though you were hearing it in a bar near closing time. Use your own good judgement and remember. Anything that sounds too good to be true probably is.
Seriously I should start a buy/sell business and get a fee for buying or selling big ticket vehicles for people. Over the years I have successfully bought low and sold high on all my vehicles. I guess it’s experience, knowledge and personality. Not everyone has it I guess so I’m fortunate. I can’t pour my experience in someone’s head or change them into something they are not. But perhaps for a fee I could put more cash in their pockets. I’ll have to think on this......

Depends on the dealer, their inventory and the coach in question. We bought our Freedom Elite during a January snowstorm. Wanted to move larger to a class A 7 months later. Dealer gave us what we paid for it and put it on their site for $10,000 more. It was still a current model year, prime season and, I guess, he wanted it. You never know until you find out.
