Good Sam trip planner

The info about the trip planner says you can download your planned trip/route to your "Good Sam GPS". Which of the available units at camping world can do this?

I have an RVND7 and this feature works great. Wife plans the trips in Good Sam, I download and away we go.

Good. There is a guy in the review section for that model @camping world says that the new models have eliminated this function! I am confused! I don't trust the people at CW to know or tell me the truth.

My RVND did not have the Good Sam feature out of the box. Once I downloaded the Rand McNally dock software and did a software update the feature showed up. Been using it ever since.

I take this as the Garmin RV 770 doesn't work with the trip planner?

It does not....you have to use Garmin's basecamp to load into the unit...and that has its own issues as to get it to work properly you have to turn off the propane warning on routes (that took me ages to finally uncover).

I use rvtripwizard for my entire trip and then load daily destinations into garmin (and always refer to my handy dandy road atlas as well as google maps satellite view)

I have found that the Good Sam Trip Planner is not very useful. The Trip Planner wants to load adds while I'm scrolling the map and it places too many options along the route.

I like me Garmin Nuvi 770 a lot! I can add a place, address or intersection and it will direct and adjust to my various decisions. I will utilize my phones Google Maps app to confirm and seek (look for restaurants or attractions) while the Garmin controls routing.

I find that all GPS units are used best for the first and last mile of any trip. The middle stuff is the easy part. Then of course, there is the decision factor.....choices choices!
Sometimes the best option is to just follow my nose! It hasn't led me too far astray......yet! And ya never know, you might stumble upon something wonderful!
