Anyone out there using ROKU streaming in their rig? We're using a fire stick with my cellphone as a Hotspot and it works OK but I'd like to get some other options on the cheap.
We have all three
Firestick
Roku
Chrome.
All three of them came with the rv.
We prefer roku because of a the channels on it and it's what we have at home. Independent channels. It's really easy to start your own roku channel.
There's.
The honey west channel
The saint
Rita hayworth
Old westerns
Old movies
Hobby channels by the dozens and dozens.
There might be 2000 channels now.
I think the cheapest roku stick is 19 or 30 bucks.
It's worth the investment to see if you like it.
I gave our first stick away to a brother in law.
It's a cheap gift if you don't like it.
But
We gave up on streaming TV in the rv.
We don't get OTA channels at home so it's an odd treat for us to get Grit and some of the other Ota channels.
And
We download a series and a bunch of movies on our phones before we leave home and then hdmi cable them to the TV.
A dedicated 20 buck yardsale phone could become a portable DVR.
Amazon days is coming up.
They've postponed it, but it's bound to happen.
I don't remember if we paid 11 or 19 bucks for our stick.
I really don't remember why we moved off of the stick and upgraded but the new voice search is like magic.
The roku phone app works really well as a wifi(you don't have to point it at the TV) remote control and we haven't found a single fault with it.
We'll probably put Dish back on the coach. Costs us $5/month and we get local channels as well as other network channels. But we enjoy the selections on Netflix and Amazon so fire stick works.
I've got one TCL Roku TV...a Seiki went busto on me.
But I opted for Dish. I permanently mounted Winegard G3 up front and have all 3 TV's off of 1 Wally. The Wally is in the cabinet above the kitchen sink
Since we have Dish at home, it's an additional $7/mo for the Wally 24/7.
It works fine for our needs as we can watch Over-the-Air or Dish or DVD or Streaming on any of the TV's
Since i park my rig under hard cover on our property here in Fallbrook...
Lately, I move the rig next to the house and we sit outside and watch TV.
The newer Vegas/Axis models do not have the exterior TV, just the two inside.
We have 3 tvs in ours and we enjoy the outdoor TV too
