Roof Ladder

I have a question on the attachment of the roof ladder on my 2016 Miramar. I have notice at the connections to the coach that the ladder ends are cut and appear to slide into some type of pre mounted hardware with a possible rod or probe that sticks out of this hardware. The way I see it, it appears that the ladder is permanently mounted to the roof, and all the way down the motorhome these attachments appear the way I am describing. Am I correct, or is there a problem here? We have owned other motorhomes and never have seen this. Please advise. Thank you.

I have a hurricane 35c and the bottom of the ladder appears to be broken. It appears to be cut where it attaches to the coach. The metal seems to be cut. Is this a warranty issue or just normal. Never noticed this on my other units.

Mine shows evidence of metal fatigue with a crack on both sides at the joint against the back wall. It almost looks as if cut or broken. I also have a 35C.

I would dare say these ladders are not meant for any kind of normal use for an average sized person. I wouldn't put any weight on that ladder now and have only used it to inspect the roof during the PDI at the dealer prior to accepting delivery. My wife also used it to inspect the roof one weekend after we had checked on some vents and ways to route wires down for projects we were planning. That was when I noticed it was sagging and looked like it was giving way at that bottom joint.

I have since purchased a telescopic ladder that extends to 12.5 feet to use instead of the rear ladder.

Thanks. I will put a claim in to thor for a replacement. I will be in your neck pf.the woods thos weekend. I am staying at ft belvoir cor a few.days. Should be a good time.

The bottom connection for the latter has to be loose. If it were not, it would tear out of the fiberglass end cap. The latter is very secured on top and the other connections are to hold it somewhat in place. This was the explanation given to me on our walk through.

It was probably like my walk thru. Vague and i don't know. I have never seen a ladder like this. It is like a 800 lb giant tried to climb on it. There is no obvious dents pr.scratches. I don't.trust it to climb onto the roof.

I plan to add the ladder to my warranty list for repair. I would expect it to at least hold up to my 120 lb. wife going up and down!


On our previous Itasca, the ladder was much more solid - it had very little give to it. That would be what I would expect.

I agree, even if that's the way it should be, its still poor quality.

My 35C just had the same results as some of you are posting. The bottom two screes came out of the metal holder as well as one other higher up.

Not very well designed, Warranty time.
