Sani-flush System
Our old RV did not have a Sani flush system and the new Thor has very little documentation on anything.
Does the system flush both black and grey water tanks or just black?

Run it till everything comes out clear, make sure the black valve is open before turning on the water

I like to throw about a cup of Dawn dish soap down the toilet, and It keep running and draining the San-T-Flush system until I get clean water...
(no soap suds)

I have to disagree with this. Volume of water is what moves everything out of the tank. I leave the valve close and open it when the santiflush fills it to about 80-85% then open and drain. Whatever is left in the tank usually comes out at the end of draining. I repeat until everything comes out clean.

We just got back from our second trip in our 2021 FW 28A and and have been reading the forums on this. I hooked up the Santiflush system first and started running it as I got out and hooked up the drain hose. I opened the driver's side valve, then the passenger side of the black tank system and let it run until clear. Turned off the water and then let it finish draining. I then closed the black water valve and opened the grey water valve and let it drain.
I don't know if I would fill and drain the black tank several times if there were other people waiting to dump.

If you really want the tank to get as clean as possible, I close the valve and fill the tank full to about 90% and then drain. I do this once or twice until I can see no or little debris coming out of the tank. I use a digital water meter to determine how much water I am putting into the tank.
The flush system is not like a pressure washer, it will do very little to clean the tank on its own.
After flsushing with clean water twice, I add a few gallons more and then add Calgon, Dawn and spetic tabs.

I keep reading people saying this, but our new Chateau has a big warning sticker next to the fitting that says to make sure the black drain is open before turning on the water. When we did our walkthrough, the tech made a point of mentioning to never use it without the dump valve open. Something about a vacuum break or something of the sort. I'm wondering if they're plumbing these differently now?

I wonder if there are compact pressure washers that come with flexible wands?
Something you could stuff down the business end of the toilet,, and let rip...

Thor says this because some idiots forget about the water being on and then open the toilet and they have an explosion of stuff coming out of the black tank because its full and under pressure.
I have had two coaches with the San-T-Flush system. The first coach I followd Thor's recommended practice. Unless you have 80PSI plus of water pressure which most camps and dump sites don't have), all you get is some water and a small amount of debris with a lot of debris remainig in the tank.
I then started using the method I have been using ever since. Even on the second fill of water I still see some stuff coming out.
All I can tell you is I have never had an issue after hundreds of dumps this way and my tank smell is minimal and my sensors work about as well as they can (not saying full after dumping or using the toilet twice).

Exactly why they say it. No one want the black tank to come out into the mh
Now if I don't have a full hook up site and have to use the cg dump station I might not do it if people are waiting. But I normally have full hook ups
I replaced the stock tank Guage with the seelevel 2 system and added a second tank monitor in the sewer bay. When time to use the santiflush I get my chair and a drink and kick back next to the sewer compartment and watch the Guage, dumping when in the 80%+

I also don't have a problem following Thors recommendation. My levels are always right but we don't put paper into the black tank, like many people on here

Ah, makes perfect sense. Again, newbie here. I have to expand my thinking beyond my experience! We will be camping in full hookup parks on our way to Washington State and back. I plan to dump every other day or so.

It's good to be almost full when dumping the black water so the full tank flushes everything out

Same here... with a twist. After running a "goodly" amount of water in, I put a foot up on the end of the rear bumper and rock it maybe a half dozen times to slosh-rinse. Then drain. It takes maybe 3 reps to get sparkling clear water.
Concerning the gray tank... I am absolutely anal about NEVER running any food items or grease (yuck) down the sink... we only wash dishes with dawn liquid after they're wiped off with Clorox wipes or similar. So... only soapy water with very minimal residue.
I cheat though... I have a well tap (garden water) and a pvc sewer clean-out in my backyard. Allows me to leisurely flush. The final touch is about a cup each of Tide liquid and Calgon. Then I run a few gallons more water in there to keep a "rosy stew" in there... which slides right out on the next dump-n-flush. Been doing this for years, and the factory tank sensors have never failed. After the gray tank dump, a little rinse of the sewer hose and we're all set for the next trip.
The vacuum break is required by plumbing code. It's a plastic spring loaded device which prevents backflow (siphoning) of "bilge" back into the fresh water supply. I had one stick on a trailer several years ago... yielding water all over the bathroom floor.
It's correct that the San-T-Flush system is NOT a pressure washer. It's only a convenience to avoid standing inside with a foot on the toilet flush. And no... you don't have to have the drain valves open... unless you wander off and forget...

This is exactly how I have been doing it for 6 years without issue.
