Sanity Check on Tire PSI

Just got our new 2019 Aria MH and I am doing a tire check. It's about 50 degrees outside. The MH weighs about 32K and has 275/R80's, about 40 ft.

Sticker behind drivers seat says fill both front & rear to 120 PSI cold

First one I checked is at 80. Just making sure that 120 sounds within reason because I probably have a lot of airing up to do if so. I've had a Class A before this and it weighed about 22K and I kept them at 90 PSI per instructions.

So does 120 PSI sound reasonable? - I just never had tires with that rating, but again, its the biggest MH we have had.

The 120psi is for your maximum carrying capacity.
There are several threads on this subject, 1 active now, you can find it by
clicking on "New Post" in the small brown tool bar.
It will tell you to weight your mh loaded the way you travel (front and rear) then check your tire manufactures web sit for a load chart.

I’ve never had a vehicle or tires in your league but if that’s the recommended pressure I’d sure follow it. You can look on the tire sidewall (I presume - even with those big boys) and see if the max pressure is higher than that. Your very best choice is to look up your specific tire model and size on the manufacturers web site and see what the recommended pressure is for each axle’s actual weight. Go weigh your rig and follow that advice strictly.

Thanks for the quick guidance. Max pressure on tire is 120 PSI.

Thor sticker inside says 120 PSI.

I think I am going to take it from 80 to around 110 to start and get better info.

If anyone has an Aria 3901 and can help that would be great.

I looked up Thor axle weights and Michelin specs and 110 PSI should do it.

I'll get it weighed soon and re-verify.

Thanks All!

My Tuscany weighs 47,000 loaded so I carry 110 psig in steering axle and 100 in the duals and tag

tires run cool even in 100 degree plus weather and that is the final rule I go by.

Thanks,

I got the actual load ratings for single and dual off the tires and I am using the standard axle weights from Thor and come up with about the same - 105 front/95 rear.

I need to get the MH weighed to see what I really carry but this feels better than the 85 that all the tire were set at from the dealer.

Thanks all!

It is always better to have a bit more than to little. Hot tires blow out and soft tires are wicked in tight turns with a tall vehicle.

I bet your pretty close

Wow! Did they fill the Newell's tires with calcium chloride?

I would have to open the cover and get in to ours to check the weight and weight/psi charts to be sure, but I think ours came out to 85 rear and 90 front. I just run 100 for a little safety net. The ride is better than 120, and it handles fine.

I travel with a fairly light load and run 105 psi in my 3901. I have a tire minder and the tires get to about 110-115. Be careful and check the inner dually extension and make sure the rubber spacer holds it off the rim. Freightliner just did a recall on these. Mine got knocked loose when I got the unit washed in Orange beach and it rubbed and got into the valve stem and created a slow leak. A good tire guy in Shreveport caught it and saved me a lot of money

120 PSI is right, but DO NOT EXCEED

I have a Thor Venetian, 41 ft long, its sticker says to inflate all six tires are to 120PSI when cold. I checked the tires, and they say 120 PSI MAX (also when cold). I got mine up to somewhere between 116 and 119 PSI. You don't want to go over the tire maker's maximum inflation. Lower inflation will cause more sidewall flex, shortening tire life. It will also hurt fuel mileage.

Thor’s sticker number is based on the GVWR and the tire manufacturer’s recommended pressure for that max weight. If your actual weight is under the maximum you can (and probably should) use lower pressures. Also if you change tire brands or models the numbers might be different. Manufacturers publish tables of weight and pressure for each model of tire. They easily are found online and are pretty interesting.

In my 2019 3901, I am running 105 front and 95 back. Michelin chart for my weight was 100 front and 90 rear, but am trying out a tad higher.

The 105 front/95 back aligns with my calculations. We just ran for NJ to FL on that PSI and it was a great ride. I still plan to get it weighed but I think these setting are definitely better then the 85 PSI all around that the dealer had it set at.

2022 Thor Aria 3701 Tire Pressure

Right now my Aria 3701 tires are inflated to 120 PSI. It hits the bumps very hard. I'm going to weigh the rig this week and follow the Chart that Michelin put out.

https://www.michelinrvtires.com/refe...tion-tables/#/

My tire pressure monitor system shows the tires getting up to 132 PSI going down the road. I'm hoping to reduce the pressure by at least 10 PSI to soften the ride. I will post the results in the coming weeks. Any other input is appreciated.
