Replacement mattress

We have a 2020 Thor 22E with the corner cutoff corner mattress that needs replacing. My question is has someone increased the mattress depth when they replaced theirs. The depth of the original is around 4 inches which isn’t much but wondered if there are any cons to increasing the depth to 6 or 8 inches.

Looking at pictures of that model I don't see any problem with a thicker mattress as long as you stay below the bottom of the windows' side valances.

There are several RV mattress makers that can make that custom, corner-cropped mattress for you. We have used https://www.mattressinsider.com/ for both our RV as well as a new king mattress for the house and are very happy with the experiences and products.

You can also add, as I did, a gel foam topper. I added a 3", but there are 2" ones also. I then have a quilted topper on top of that. Ahhhhhh.

Here's a second for Mattress Insider. They custom cut the Hinged RV king mattress in our ACE. We went form a 6" memory foam (awful) OEM Denver mattress to a 8" thick coil mattress. 100% improvement!

We added a 3" memory foam gel top to our 2022 22E (lots of 2's). It was no problem except a) farther for my short wife to reach the floor when getting down and b) almost up to the the window coverings and valences when they are pulled down. Also a little harder to make the bed by tucking anything under the mattress.

Thanks for your information on the mattress

Mattress Replacement

I have a different Thor model, but replaced OEM mattresses with 9" hybrid foam/pocket coil type from Amazon. I have had them 4 years and they have held up well. Amazon no longer sells that exact mattress.

As someone else commented, the mattress top is higher and the beds are harder to make. The comfort is outstanding and worth the additional bed making effort!

In my case, that's all I could do, as my 25.2 has the bed in the rear slider. It must be folded in half to slide it in.

Even so, I have to use bungie cords to hold the bed up due to the added thickness.
