Seiki TV cable hookup and antenna

Hi all. We just purchased our first motor home, a 2017 Thor Hurricane. Our first adventure was going to the Tucson KOA. Great place! They provide cable TV hookups at each site. We connected the coax from the pedestal to our cable connector. We never figured out how to get the cable channels, but the antenna stations worked fine. We followed the menu options to auto scan cable, but seemed to only scan for antenna signals. Any help would be appreciated! Is there somewhere else other than the TV menu we need to switch something?

Yes, you need to turn off the OTA antenna amplifier power injector supply. Normally a small button on a faceplate in one of the cabinets, normally with an LED power indication on the same faceplate.

Thanks Bob, if i had seen this i would have purchased. I got the CW model and its larger and needs trimming to wall. question? Do you think these are susceptible to lightening strike damage? After extensive trouble shooting with the Klein tool, we found that all the cables passed individually, but when we looped on the switch only, it failed. In both antenna and cable position. A time consuming DIY task, but we found the fault.

So the new switch panel has (2) SET 2 outlets. This is just an extra outlet for an additional TV? The one on the inside of the wall goes to my splitter and then to the 3 TV sets

Older seiki tvs do not work on more modern cable systems without an added adapter.

All electronics is susceptible to lightning damage, especially low voltage electronics attached to long runs of wire. The damage occurs one of two ways (assuming not a direct hit):

Close hit: The amount of current passing through a lightning strike can easily induce high voltage in low voltage wires and antennas. This high voltage can damage the low voltage electronic device.

120 VAC power fluctuations: The line power going low/high/on/off can induce high voltage in nearby low voltage wiring that normally is not effected by the standard 120 VAC 60 Hz EMF. Again, this high voltage can damage the low voltage electronic device it's attached to.

Yes, that's what it is. I installed one of those as I plan to eventually install a separate tuner (HD Homerun) in the A/V cabinet.

I added an extra outlet to the King Jack power panel for my DirecTV receiver. I removed the old 1 to 3 splitter and gave it away. I bought a new 4-way green label (sat TV capable) 1 to 4 splitter with red DC pass terminal. My portable Slimline 2 antenna with LNB coax connects the the coach's cable input and the receivers coach connects to the new outlet. The Gennie 2 is wireless to the TVs clients. The cable still works with RV campground and the King Jack terrestrial antenna.
