Senior thank you

Someone posted that the Lifetime senior pass for the US national Parks was going up. I purchased it immediately (this was a while ago) ...don't remember cost but it was a bargain. Visited Yosemite and Sequoia this month and DW and I paid nothing with the pass. Sign said $80 for a senior pass at the entrance. Thanks whoever posted the notice way back when.

+1. We got our senior pass almost a year ago, but didn’t use it until just recently. We just completed a six week trip out west and used the senior pass several times. I wouldn’t have known about it before the price increase without this forum. Thanks.

Mrs S and I both have our own, in case one of us goes traveling without the other. If you missed out, don't despair. Even at the $80, it's a bargain. We all know prices only go one direction, up!

We got ours last August right before the price went up. We've used ours twice and have saved enough to more than pay for both.

Remember, besides national parks, you also get 50% off at Corps of Engineer campgrounds. Usually $9 to $13 per night camping.

And if you are disabled ... it's FREE! I've had mine since 2001.

Wow. Quite a jump from $10 to 80! Glad I got mine last year when visiting the Grand Canyon.

Senior National Park pass

Yep, everything said is true. My wife and I got ours several years ago and have used it extensively. Last summer we did our Florida to Alaska trip and hit most national parks in the northwest. We have also over the years stayed at a couple of Army Corps of Engineer parks and the range quoted $9-$13 is correct. We've paid $10 and $11 at most ACoE parks.

I can't imagine how much we saved during the Alaska trip alone. Keep in mind that the free admission is for the vehicle which can be loaded with folks.

I bought mine at $10 as soon as I was eligible and have saved hundreds of $$ in just a few years. I had my wife get her own as soon as she turned 63 - she got in under the price change and also paid $10. As long as a pass holder is in the car when entering the park, the car gets in for free, so we can have her jump into my son’s car when we camp at Rocky together and save him a few bucks too.

You also get a 50% discount on camping fees. We stay in National Parks for at least 10-14 days a year and get at least a $12/night price break. Last year we stayed at Flagg Ranch (between Teton and Yellowstone) for 8 days and got a $55/night rate vs the MSRP of $75/night (they think a lot about their facility)
