Sewer question

Sorry, I just have so many little questions about RVing. We bought our Vegas 2015 in January and has been in shop. More than we have been able to use it. We did get to go a few weeks ago and learned a little about the gray and black water tanks. My question is how to keep the toilet from smelling when you aren't hooked up to sewer. We didn't hook up right away as we got in late. But noticed a smell every time we flushed. Once we hooked to the sewer we didn't have the smell. It had just been dewinterized so it was clean when we started this trip. Any comments or suggest greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you add anything to the tank? They make deodorizers that help eliminate the smell as well as help break apart the TP and poop.

Also check on the forum about a pressure valve below the bathroom sink,

If you can smell it, maybe your neighbors do too.

Yes, we put deodorizer in it. Will check the valve you are asking about. I just know we are camping next week and there are no sewer hookup at the sites. Only dump tanks on way out of campground. Just don't want to smell it the 3 days we are there. Thanks

Also note: When hooked to the sewer do not leave the black tank valve open. Ideally don't empty the black tank until its at least 2/3 full. That gives a good flushing action to get the solids out. (You can leave the grey tank's valve open when connected to the sewer, however.)

Look in the cabinet under the sink. Behind the drain pipes you'll see a pipe sticking up that just sort of stops. At the top of that is an air admittance valve. Grab it and see if it is loose (if it is tighten it up). The valve is supposed to only let air into the black tank but if it is loose it could be letting the stink into the bathroom (your bathroom sink also goes to the black tank so make sure the trap has water in it as well).
