Dealer wants to sell sealant package

Picking up a new 2016 ACE 30.2 this Saturday. Dealer wants to sell me a Ultimate Platinum Protection System sealant package for exterior and interior protection by ECP inc. Dealer wants $895 for the package.

Good idea, bad idea.

Well we went with it. Having said that would I go with it again? I don't know. I was sold on it because I was told that any outside damage could be claimed against the sealant company..? Is this true? I don't know--haven't had to make a claim yet.
They did the inside as well.

The one thing I can say is that it seems to be a bit more durable than a simple wax job. There is another Axis in our storage lot with the same color scheme. Theirs is about 6 months younger than ours but now after two years ours still looks brand new on the outside and theirs is already showing a bit of age (at this point the two campers look like completely different colors)..is that because of the sealant? maybe.

Read the warranties before making a decision. Most dealers sell different packages offered by different companies and the items covered, periodic maintenance and claims procedures are all different.

We went with it. In Southern CA any vehicle's finish takes a beating. We figured it would pay for itself in annual wax jobs in a few years. And the warranty -- if we read it correctly -- seems fairly solid.

After a year of sitting outside and only one wash, the rig still looks brand new.

We also did the package, I don't remember the price. It was good for 5 years on the outside and inside fabrics.

I have bought it for the cars thanks to DW. I hate to admit it but our cars always look great. I did bargain on the second and they knocked off a couple hundred. Tell them $500 and see what they say, you never know it may work.

I will admit that we bought the service primarily for the warranty. Would I do it again after seeing what the "application process" was? No. Young man came out to the house, applied the "special" wax, sprayed a "protectant" on the awnings... nothing too special looking to me. I would save your money and pay for the first alignment out of your own pocket and maybe install a steering stabilizer.
