Slide-Out

My dining room slide-out on our 2018 Vegas 27.7 won’t seal correctly. There is an almost 1” gap all the way around it front and back, top to bottom when closed.
It’s an even gap all the way around, but even so I tried re-timing but it didn’t work.
It’s been back to the dealer and sat there for a month without them fixing it, even though they said it did.
So anyone out have any ideas before I take it back?
Thank you,
Baldy.

I can only tell you that on my former DP, one of the rear slides did not close flush. It was apparently Easily fixed in less then 30 minutes with a simple adjustment.

Apparently, all techs are NOT created equal. Manufacturer customer service should be able to give you directions on this one. Thor has been an awesome advocate with me on my 2017 Axis and our current 2018 Windsport 29 m

I agree with the folks who said to bypass your dealer, and call Thor directly.
Good luck!

Slide out

Has it ever sealed correctly? Did it come like this?

The reason for resetting the system is that DC slide motors, when energized, do not turn at the same rate because it depends on the load on each motor; more load slower slide. The correction procedure (extra 5 seconds after you hear one of the motors overloading) allows for the slower motor to catch up and extend or return to it's mechanically limited point (i.e. close). The faster motor has it's drive current limited electronically when stalled to prevent overheating/burnout.
The closed position is limited ideally by the mechanical pressure on the wall seal, when both slides are fully retracted.

Your situation could be original or something blocking the closure of one side. Look for an obstruction. Sometimes you hear about water soaked plywood delaminating of the floors or sidewalls. Fully inspect the area under and on each side of the fully extended slideout.

Hello all,
Since it’s still under warranty We took the Vegas to the dealer to have the slide-out looked at today.
In 4-6 weeks I’ll let you all know what the problem was and hopefully how they fixed it.
lol I hate having others work on my stuff..

I love that

A brand new & expensive motorhome is purchased, doesn’t work correctly...and the dealer’s answer is “our first appointment is 4-6 weeks from today”

No other business operates like this

Had the same thoughts...translation..."you're nothing to me...just park it out in the yard with the other 200+...we'll get to it if and when we're ready...if you call to check on it you will pay more for bothering us...you're just another snob RV'er who thinks the world evolves around you".

Find an independent RV repair shop and you’ll (probably) be treated better. Some can even do warranty work. I’d even pay for work that should be warranty if it’s not huge just to avoid having it out of service on a big lot somewhere for a month and then serviced by an indifferent hourly worker.

I hear y'all about the way the dealer feels, and the wait, but on the bright side, it is the dead of winter while they work on it!

Call Thor and ask them to authorize someone else to repair the slide.

During my Wakarusa Vacation, the tour dude said, "you can unhook the two "white wires" from the controller module (in the compartment under each slide) and manually push the slides in or out...then re-connect the wires". Disconnecting will disengage the "brakes" on the motor and re-connecting them will lock them back up. Maybe try this and see if it will push on in the short distance??? Just a thought....

or you may find something has wedged itself within the slide floor area - run the slide all the way out, then pull back the lower opening seal and see what you find...
