Snowbird destinations

Not having too much longer to pack it in and retire, we are looking for advice on camping resorts to snowbird at for the months of January, February and part of March. We are looking towards the Tucson Arizona area, or any place along that longitude line due to the average winter temperature being 72 degrees. Any recommendations for camping resorts?

Answers to your question depends on the answers to many other questions. Are you looking for golf, fishing, water sports, shopping, solitude, nightlife, or what else?

Always lots of NY folks in all of Florida every winter. You might add that to your options. We wintered in Phoenix and West Palm Beach Florida, then decided to make our base in central Florida. No regrets. But that's our preference, your results will vary.

We've been to both Arizona & Florida & we prefer Arizona as it's much drier & that's better for arthritic joints. We like the smaller parks over the mega parks & you will find tons of both in the Tucson/Phoenix/Yuma areas you will have try them or look them up & decide for yourself what you want, we've found that in the snowbird parks that if you're bored it's your fault.

I'm not sure you can go 100% by forum recommendations. We tired several "snowbird" destinations. We tried Texas, Arizona, and Florida because we thought those states met our #1 requirement, and that was warm winter temps. We found out that the consistent warm temps depended on what part of each state you wintered in.

Anyhow, for us SW Florida had more to offer and that was where we ended up returning to. Then after a couple years we bought our home here and just stayed.

We have several friends who winter in Casa Grande, AZ .. have done so for a number of years...I do not know the name of the Resort .. if you are interested, I will see one of them this weekend. I do know this..they stay busy all the time ..crafts, dance, concerts, golf, tennis, etc.

Casa Grande rv park is also very nice, but only about a 1/3 The size of Palm Creek. Desert Gardens in Florence is very nice with huge sites, Voyager in Tucson is a very nice mega park. Cocopah in Yuma is great if you play golf , but a little far out of the way for us. We spent 2 winters at Country Aire Manor in Dade City Florida & it was a very nice inexpensive place.
