Bob,
Sorry to hear about your situation!
Over the 39 years of seeing patients I have had dozens with prosthetics and I have seen the technology constantly improve.
My favorite was a husband and wife that had a dance studio, he lost a leg just below the knee but with his prosthetic leg he was still able to teach ballroom dancing. They kept promising they could even teach some one like me (two left feet and no sense of rhythm) to dance!
Sheree and I will keep you in our thought and prayers.
Take care.

DocMike

UPDATE:
I got sent home last evening with a wound-vac, and a shift of nurses to help me deal with it, and the antibiotics that'll be feeding the PICC line for the next 6 weeks.
Right now I'm weaker than the fourth cup of tea being brewed from the same bag....... But it's good to be home!

These words are bittersweet but I'm glad for you. Has to beat the isolation of a hospital room with the occasional visitor. BEST OF LUCK and keep us informed.

Glad you are home Bob as that is always more comfortable than hospital. Hope your treatment goes smoothly and you are back at it shortly. Spring thaw is coming up your way.

You have a lot of friends pulling for you. Take a day at a time and hang in there.

No place like home for recovering!

Brother, I’ve worked construction for decades. I have met and worked alongside many folks with some type of restriction from a normal life. From metal leg braces in the 70’s, elevated heals to balance shortness of leg, fused discs, metal pins and rods and in my case, brain surgery. Bob, in truth, I believe those like us are the more normal than can be imagined.
Your positive outlook and true understanding of reality is why so many of us who have never met you physically, are inspired by your overall outlook in life in spite of all that is happening in your world.
Stay positive Bob and know we will be praying for you and the Mrs. return to health.

We're hanging tough up here... I've learned to infuse the antibiotics via the PICC line by myself, and a home healthcare nurse comes in three days a week to check on what the wound vac is doing to the foot. (So far: so good!)
Kathy is still dialyzing manually. She started retaining a lot more fluid, so we had to find the right solution to use in her treatments. She's already dropped 4 lbs this weekend.
Things ain't great: but they're getting better!

Keep the Faith!

Keep the Faith Bob! Someone a lot smarter than I said the Good Lord doesn't give us more than we can handle.

I can tell you from experience the Lord works in mysterious ways. 20 years ago my wife survived a ruptured brain aneurism. It happened the day before we were to be on the road for an extended vacation, in a restaurant across the street from the Fire Station and on the day the top neurosurgeon in the region was in the hospital doing rounds. EMT's were there in 2 minutes had her at the hospital in 10 and into surgery within an hour. All before I got home from work. I firmly believe a higher power, I choose to call God, had our back that day.

I am certain he has yours as well! Keeping you and your DW in our thoughts and prayers.
