UPDATE:
I think that I'm making good progress...
The exposed portion of bone in the foot has been covered with new meat, and they just pulled the PICC line out of my arm.
No more intravenous antibiotics!!
The wound is shallowing and shrinking.
I'll still be on crutches for a long time; but I think that I turned a corner!

Well it brightens my whole day to know that my invisible cyber friend is mending nicely! Prayers continue for you and your wife and hopes that you’ll soon be back on the road. Your cheerful attitude is an inspiration in a world where everyone seems to be angry and fearful.

UPDATE: They've started the skin graft process now.
They had three choices: cadaver, pig, and artificial.
I was hoping for pig: it would give my "little piggies" a back-up band with a cool story...
But I ended up with cadaver... I told the Doctor that if I ended up looking like a Zombie in George Romero's "Night of The Living Dead": I was gonna hunt him down...
Several friends have already offered to shoot me in the head also!
DON'T LOOK AT THE PICTURE if your stomach isn't okay with the whole idea of it...
The Bozo letting me know that I'm "number one in his heart"; is the Doctor...

Bob: Best wishes and Get well and keep posting with your sense of humour. My best line to the surgeon before an operation I had, was I asked him if I would be able to play the piano after the operation and he said of course and I said `That`s great I couldn`t play before` after that I do not remember getting a response.
Stay safe and there`s not a lot of places we can go anyways

Thanks;/ but it's never easy with this foot...
I've been a Type I Diabetic for 55 years now, and the foot hasn't been "normal" in almost thirty years.
It's called a "Charcot foot".
Essentially: Diabetic Neuropathy scrambles the nervous system signals from the braion bone: to the foot bone. After a while: the foot sort of "forgets" what it should look like, and it collapses. Now the brain says, "That feels like a fracture", and it fuses all of the bones into a big lump. You end up with no impact attenuation when walking on it, and you beat the underside of your foot to death.
The result: diabetic ulcerations.
This is my third trip to this urinal in twenty years, and we came REAL close to losing the whole enchilada this time.
