Sometimes a good old fashioned tank water heater is more dependable. But I definitely would call Thor and have them fix it.

Check lines

Check water line from tank to pump, and filter on pump inlet. Mine were badly clogged with plastic shavings from when tank was installed. My RV repair guy said this is very common. Had to use a drill bit to remove impacted plastic material from water line to pump inlet. Now get continuous hot water.

Another idea

We have a 2018 Quantum RC25 class C with the tankless water heater and u find that the system does not purge well. If we have not used the unit for a little while the water heater will not work when using the inside faucets. Our solution to this is turn on the outside shower and this seems to purge the air from the system and then the water heater will stay alight and heat the water. Without doing this the tankless Heater would just keep cutting out.
Good luck!!
Steve

As others said already, the tankless heaters need flow to work... turning off water to soap up - while it extends gray tank dump intervals if not connected to sewer - is not compatible with tankless heaters.

Boy I know, just hard to do when dry camping.
Thanks

We had put on Oxygenics shower head in the Outlaw, and the Girard seemed to handle that change just fine...

Check out "aqua view Inc " extended stay technologies. It's basically a shut off valve for the shower head but water returns to freshwater tank until shower head is turned back on,or turn off shower head and soap up turn water back on it recirculates back to freshwater tank when valve turns color it's hot, turn shower head on and rinse.

Out Truma kind of has the same technology... but it recirculates the water back into the heater, to keep everything nice and warm. No cold water surprises!

I agree. Tank heater is easier to diagnose and parts readily available. Mine died on the first day of a 3 week trip a few years back. Found out after hooking up at KOA for the night, suspected igniter board bad. On-site RV tech had a very old used one he let me try first. Replaced the bad one and we were back to normal. I Went back to pay him and he said “no charge”. We were so happy I slipped him some bills for gratitude. I don’t think that will happen if a tankless goes south. But, since we never dry camp, holding tank capacity isn’t an issue and it sure is nice not to have to hurry through a shower to ensure the family of four has enough hot water using a tankless. So, if I had a choice? Given the advantages of both I would still opt for an old timey tank type.

I like the tankless setups!
It's nice to be able to take a shower without worrying about the amount of hot water that you have...

DW and I have had only one extended camping trip in the new coach since delivery and all went well. Heading out tomorrow for a week with 2 grandkids. It will be interesting to see how everyone adapts to the new tankless type! Finding the sweet spot temperature took a little bit of experimenting, though. I finally got the process down and DW is not far behind.
With old timey one I always rushed through a shower so as not to deprive others of hot water. Not anymore! Basically it all boils down to what one is comfortable with given the circumstances.

The only thing that you need to keep an eye on: your graywater tank levels...
Ours only holds 32 gallons, so I usually just "Pull the plug"; and let it all drain into the sewer connection.
