Thinking of adding 2nd generator

While boondocking this weekend we had to run our generator for 13.7 hours. We only needed to run it for about 3hr for ac. The rest was a 5500 watt gen running to power the kids video games. Im thinking of a Honda eu2000 on my general outlets and only use the 5500 for ac units, microwave and water heater if needed.

What did your neighbors think of that?
I believe I would leave the video games at home.

We were in the middle of a cow pasture doing work. No one to bother. Only took the rv so we could learn more about it.

I would think a good inverter would run the games and TV's, only needing the generator to recharge the battery, cost would be about a 1/10th of the Honda.

And your kids have every right to their games.

Two gensets would do the job.

I have a Honda EU2000 that I had before I bought our coach (we used to use it on our boat), and they are very nice generators.

You pay a premium for them vs. the el-cheapos you get at Harbor Freight, etc., but they are actually DC generators with an inverter on the output. This allows the generator to run at a lower RPM if full power is not needed. Running at a lower RPM means they (can be) both quieter and more fuel efficient.

I have to say though, I have not used the Honda since buying the coach, but we plan on doing so next summer at a rally. There is no electricity at the rally and they only allow quiet generators like the Honda to run at night.

The Honda doesn't have enough power to run the A/C, but it will run just about everything else in the coach.
