rear ladder

Is the roof ladder on these RV's really for climbing? The ladder on my 2016 Miramar 34.2 seems to sag when I climb on it, I am 213 lbs. It feels unsteady like it’s going to snap. I am going to purchase a separate ladder and avoid using the RV one. Anybody else having this issue?

I've gone up on the roof of my 2015 Vegas numerous times using the rear ladder. No sagging and I'm at 175 lbs.

We found our rear ladder was loose and sagging as well. When we took it to the dealer for some warranty work, they said it hadn't completed installation and they should have caught it during the PDI. They were able to tighten it up and make it much more firm. My 250 lbs. would be an awesome test!

If it were some type of adjustment, I could do that. I don’t see any way to adjust this, it appears to be weak supports.

I'll be honest, I didn't see any way to adjust them either. I'm just glad they made it much more stable.

I have been looking on YouTube and I think you tighten the ladder screws up which pulls the ladder into the supports. I will try this tonight when I get home. I just thought this would have all been done at the factory.

Needing tightened or adjusted is one thing, but on my past RV's I have found that most RV ladders are just very light duty and light weight. I climbed up the Challenger 37GT when we first looked at it and found it was about as flimsy as most, but it still held me at 230 pounds.

To my understanding, the ladder on my Challenger is rated at 300lbs max. Even though Thor says its mounted backed by steel plates, still seems a bit wobbly when climbed and I weigh in at 230lbs. All mounting screws have been tightened. I carry a six foot step ladder as I am not 100% comfortable using the rear mounted ladder. When I need roof maintenance down, my son is more than willing to go up there and take care of things.

I was told by my service manager, " Do not tighten the screws into the rear cap, they will crack the fiberglass cap." Make sure the screws anchoring the latter to the roof are secured and tight.

Problem solved, I called Thor and they told me how to do this. I removed all for ladder support brackets from the motorhome. behind the ladder support is a Phillips head screw that tightens into the ladder, then the entire bracket gets remounted back on the coach. Not a hard job, recommend two people to do this, And a separate ladder parallel to the one on the motorhome to do accomplish this job. The ladder is now tight and can hold me.
