THOR Axis sofa

I have a new Thor Axis 24.1 and we find the sofa to be very uncomfortable.
I am thinking about replacing it with a RecPro 67" Double Recliner. Has anyone else done this? What are the pitfalls? Any advice and/or problems to look for?

We have a 2020 vegas 24.1 and added the Recpro 67" electric recliner. I didn't do the install but it isn't really difficult I'm told and made a world of difference. The stock sofa iwas brutal.Click image for larger version

We replaced the couch in our 2014 with ones from "Shop4Seats": https://shop4seats.com/rv-furniture/...recliners.html

Part of the reason the OEM sofa is uncomfortable is that the back is too vertical. There is plenty of room- about 6" for it to tilt back further. I am investigating ways to do this on our new Axis. Will take a while, but I will report any success. Just one of several projects in the que.

My sofa seats sank way way to much which made it uncomfortable
So I modified under the seat with padding & strapping to provide more support.
Much more comfortable for us now

Be sure and leave at least 4 inch behind the top or the love seats for them to be able to recline fully. The love seats are a full 16 inches above the base. If the edge of the love seat comes to the edge of the slide (24") then it will be a challenge for those that are height impaired. That said, they are extremely comfortable and fit our needs perfectly. After two years and four months of use, one of the back cushions leather began to fail. I e-mailed Recpro and ask if I could buy a new back cushion as the love seat was out of warranty and the rest of the love seat was holding up fine. The answer was no, but we will send you a new one in exchange for a picture of the failing cushion. The new seat back arrived 10 days later.

The Thor OEM couch is fine
Although we place a thick blanket over the seating area for extra comfort.

The front seats both have quasi-seat covers.
There’s a small bit of flaking in a corner of the Driver’s.

But let’s face it, it’s cheap vinyl.

I expect it to flake eventually, not like “bonded leather” does. But we should get several more years out of them.

We have 21k miles for the approx 3yr in-service date.

Taken about 2 months ago. Taken the last of Feb 2021. One back cushion failed after 26 months, but Recpro replaced it under warranty. We have used the coach for 105 days in the last two years.

We find the sofa OK, not great, but OK for sitting but are not fans of it as seating for the dining table. We are seriously thinking of replacing it with a dinette (bunk seating for 4 plus somewhat larger table area). We had a "dinette" in our pop-up and really liked that. It was also great for playing game, cards, of making puzzles on rainy days.

DH is thinking he can build what we have in mind. We've measured to be sure there will be enough clearance for the hall/kitchen floor space.

For those that have removed dinettes and gone to other options, your thoughts/suggestions.

So, now we welcome any suggestions (or if you have a dinette you've removed and have for sale, we're open to talk on that too).

Recpro.com has several models of dinettes from 36 to 44 inch in several colors and coverings.

Thor 24.1 recliner install

I just purchased a rec pro 67 inch recliner and it’s on its way. Do I need to extend the platform at all in order for the recliner to recline? If so, I was considering overlaying and extending with three-quarter inch plywood. Also, what did you do about the bolts and the seatbelts?
