Thor Chateau Roof

We’re scheduled to pickup a new Chateau 31W a the end of the week. We did a comprehensive walk around (pre-orientation) with the sales personnel last Friday. In the course of examining the roof, I found the rubber membrane was tight the length of the roof except on either side where it did not seem attached other than by the side trim. Said another way, it’s bubbled slightly for 4 inches in from the edge all along the roof on either side. This isn’t our first C class but is our first one with a rubber membrane, so I don’t know if I have a problem or not. One person I spoke to said not to worry the membrane is simply stretched across the roof and attached via the trim and screws. Another person said they were glued down. We need some help here before we go deal with vendor.

If it is solidly attached at the sides it’s probably ok. If you are not sure you can have an independent service fellow look at it before purchase. It’s probably not actually a rubber roof but rather TPO - a vastly superior product! Good luck in your purchase and subsequent travels.

You did a walk through with a salesman and expect some sort of honesty. You will hear anything that makes you feel good.

If you haven't bought that particular unit, run away. If you have, get it fixed there and before you leave. If you have any leverage like money not yet paid, withhold it and use it as leverage to get it fixed today. Once you leave you'll most likely get scheduled way out in the future.
