Thor LT20 Issues

Hello,
We purchased a 2021 Tellaro LT20 from a private party about 5 weeks ago. The unit seemed to work well at first. The 12vdc system was being charged by the solar panel, all was right with the world!
Unfortunately now several items have come up:
1- The batteries no longer charge even when plugged into shore power.
2-The BMPro no longer operates. By this I mean that the home page has disappeared. It now only displays the Winegard setup screen. I can’t get it back to the controls screen. Due to this I can only control functions through the App.
3- The generator will run however when the AC kicks on the generator idle doesn’t kick up. This causes it to stall.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I am answering from my experience with my 2021 Axis:

The solar panel controller's output is wired directly to the batteries through a fuse. First check the fuse.

The BMPro can return to coach control from the Android Chrome screen by hitting the RV icon on the upper left of the screen. It should also go to that screen when you power down and back up by turning off the battery switch without shorepower connected. Takes about a minute to boot up though.

Sounds like your generator's governor is faulty. It doesn't kick up from idle as the generator's governor maintains 3,600 rpm even with no load, but it does open up the throttle to maintain that rpm when a heavy load is applied.

If it really is running slow with no load, the governor is surely bad.

David

Hi David. Thanks for replying! I’ll take a look at the online fuse. The LY20 has a rotary on switch. As to the BMpro there is no icon of an RV. Which is weird because there should be! I’ll get the RV service guys to check the governor on the generator. That sounds correct.

If his van is fairly new, it may have the Onan 2800 Watt inverter generator, which idles slower to save fuel. I would check model number first.

When I first talked to Onan at Tampa RV show and asked them why that generator did not idle much slower like Honda and other inverter generators, he said it was because the generator would not be able to speed up (react) quickly enough to start an air conditioner if starting from a lower no-load speed.

Thanks all for the responses. At this point I think I’ll take the coach in to an authorized service department. I’m over my skis! 😂

Puzzling symptoms. Have you load tested the batteries? All sorts of seemingly unrelated things can happen if the batteries are not up to snuff.
