One good thing about Winter: it gives us time to re-stock our brochure supplies, and shop for the rigs that we can't afford!

I purchased a new 2021 Thor Four Winds 31WV unit in August of this year. On our first outing three warranty problems were noted. I brought two of these issues to the Lazydays dealership in Tucson in early October 2020 and am still waiting for a replacement Coleman air conditioner.

The issue here is that when you buy an automobile, say a FORD, and the radio, made by Motorola, fails, the dealership requests a warranty replacement directly from the FORD.

In the case of Thor, or maybe all RV manufacturers, Thor only obtain approve for the warranty from the manufacturer. The actual replacement must be ordered from the Lazydays dealership to a parts distributor who then requests the part from the manufacturer.

I have been waiting three months for an A/C replacement with no part in sight.
Back on topic......

If you can fix and pay for parts yourself, you may be better off. In some cases, it may cost you a lil more but, you learn the ins and out of your rig (not always a good thing) and you can fix/do things the way YOU want them done.

I try and do as much as I can myself, but obviously some things have to be done by the stealership.

If your dealer is not meeting your warranty or repair needs there is no reason not to go to an independent RV repair shop. Since they don’t have the higher priority of selling units they will be entirely focused on meeting your repair needs. It’s their only business after all. Unlike cars or other products it is not unusual to have independent shops approved for warranty work. Or go to Indiana to the factory service center. I know it’s a long trip for some folks but isn’t traveling what you you bought it for? Indiana is a beautiful state and adding a repair stop to a vacation trip could work. As a last resort you could hire an RV transport driver to take it there and bring it back for you. It wouldn’t sit around waiting.

If you feel that way why don’t you cancel and use he refunded fees to pay your repair bill?

Not at Pete or boxcar, but in general because so few people seem to know this:

Many to most to damn near all states have laws about purchase warranties.
The laws say, in various forms :

If you paid $5,000 for a five year warranty, and they do $30,000 of warranty work to your vehicle, and you cancel it at a certain percentage of miles or time(well use two years) they have to refund you the remaining three years without regard to how much they've paid out.

So,
If you want the three year warranty, buy the seven year warranty and cancel if the vehicle is still yours, or still good after the three years.

Less than 48 hrs to to resolve from abject misery to fully cured.
Would you like to reword your original post and give us some details about how it all happened in less than 16 working hours?

Was it advice you got here?
New management at the dealer?
Someone replaced the $1.30 capacitor?
A phone call you/dealer could have made 3 months ago and Thor stepped up?
What?

Unless you help us, as we tried to help you, you're not helping us.

Thanks Pete! I may still need the extended warranty down the road as my education continues in the extended warranty world

It sure does

Welcome to my world. Most are like that. Thor appears to be one of the worst. Thor just bought Tiffin and they have so many other brands under their belt. Damon was great and Thor bought them in 2011 and by 2012 they started putting out crap with little customer service.

I thought I got away from them when I bought a Jayco and then I found out Thor bought them too.

We purchased a 2017 Thor Quantum PD31 new from La Mesa in Phoenix, AZ. We also purchased an extended warranty. Researching this forum among others prior to our decision to purchase, we knew going in that a new motorhome would likely have warranty issues during the first year, and that proved to be true. In every case, La Mesa responded well and Thor went above and beyond to resolve concerns. One repair in particular involved expensive repairs - replacing a section of a supporting wall due to water wicking into the underlayment, the result of improper sealing. Though out of the original warranty period, Thor stepped up and accepted full responsibility and repaired everything - no charge to me. Their customer service person could not have been more responsive or helpful. What I have found is that if one is willing to be patient - and polite - in working with these folks, it goes a long way to a good outcome.

Yes, but does the dealership know that? It seems like a meaningless gesture if they are not aware of the cost of their actions.

Buying a coach is not the same as buying a car or truck nor is the warranty and service the same. I have owned several class A motor coaches over the past 29 years and have never had a warranty or service problem. I have had things break, things stolen and many upgrades made to the coaches. I have darkened the doors of many RV repair places and am happy to report all met my expectations. I can recommend Youngbloods RV in Mayfield, KY; White Motor Company in Forest City, Arkansas; MHSRV in Alvarado, TX; Iron Horse RV in San Antonio, TX and Wagoners RV in Castroville, TX as I have recently had service at these locations.
Agree entirely- I've had 4 RV's over the past 40 years, never a problem with dealer or manufacturer. 2000 GeorgieBoy Dp went back to factory for repairs first year, not a problem for the next 15. Present 2016 Class C by Thor has had all problems addressed promptly during warranty period and basically trouble free since. I've bought from local dealers and usually they locate problem and I return to have parts installed. Carpenters Campers in Pensacola. We also have several good mobile and independent shops here.
