Sad to have to park for winter. We are visiting kids 100 miles South this weekend. Will head home after lunch and may come back Friday.

Since we are in Florida, unit is kept in ready to roll condition. We park/plug in in driveway and use RV as mobil hotel room.

We are heading into fall racing season in a few weeks. 2 to 5 day events make havinhg RV great. No more leaving stuff at track and finding hotel room. Dogs really enjoy the adventure.

I just finished winterizing. Next steps: A wash and then cover.

It won't see the light of day until late March or April 2022...sadly.

Well its put away, and back in July we were just north of AZ & NM (in CO and UT). Did make it to AZ & NM with a stop at 4 corners, however.

I've had a couple of busy weeks. My daughter got married 2 weeks ago; then I stacked 9 cords (1 cord = 8 X 4 X 4 feet) of wood for the winter, winterized the motorhome and then flew out to Vancouver for a hip replacement.
Why do I winterize? It's cold here. Has to be done. Why not take it out of storage? It's cold here. I've gone camping in the winter (once down to -30 F) but I dug a snow cave. Couldn't imagine even trying to camp in an RV. It was a scout trip and one of them didn't want to do the work of digging a snow cave. The idiot father let him and then camped in the back of the van. They damn near froze. And the carbon monoxide just about wiped out one of the caves.
It's a 3,000 mile drive to get even to the northern states. I'm not prepared to freeze for 4 days.
Finally, we like travelling around the world. So winter is a great time to see the rest of the world.

This thread got me curious about where my low point drain access is. According to the schematics, it should be below the bathroom somewhere. I took off the access panel behind the toilet.

Nope, not there.

I dove underneath and looked all around for them.

Nope, not there.

I'm wondering if they never got installed!

I'm in the San Diego area and the only freezing weather we experience is some person on the news talking about it.

Won't be a problem for me, but the next guy?

However, I did find a great spot to put in my accumulator tank!

Hi Wayne

I too decided go look around for my low point drain. I too pulled the Thor schematics for the plumbing. It shows my low point drain as being under the fresh water tank(2018 Thor Siesta 24SS) plus it shows a gravity fill just above the fresh water tank. I have no fresh water gravity fill and there are two blue Pex drains under the fresh water tank. One goes to the fresh water tank to be able to drain it completely and the other goes to the fresh water tank overflow. There are no other drain lines that run under my coach. The wet bay has the winterize/sanitize position and no drain. For my coach I would have to open the water valves inside and pump in antifreeze from that position to fill the lines. I too am not worried because of the weather here in southern Calif. but I do go in the winter to Utah where it dips below 16 degrees. I just use the onboard water tank since it is heated as well as the tank heaters. My on demand water heater operates to keep from freezing. I put the pink stuff in the sink drains and holding tanks as an extra precaution. I also wrapped the exterior sewer pipes with insulation. I have no exposed water lines under my coach. I could pump air through the wet bay winterize valve to force all water out of the lines if I were to store it. I would have to open each water valve inside to get the water out of the lines.

Paul

You do indeed live in serious cold country.
Good luck with the new hip and happy trails.

There’s oceans of it around here (Indiana). Every store - even the grocery store - seems to have a mountain of stacked bottles. I just bought some, 3 for $7.49.

Of course the best part about now is: Planning next year.

After its put away you start scouring maps and parks and such to figure out the next adventures....a least for me. This way we have a solid plan for where we are going so we can start making those cruicial reservations when they start opening up come Januaryish.

Been there several times in the past. It has been years, but I do remember that the bathroom needed proper venting, and I mean proper venting. I hope they modified/fixed that problem. With a RV now I would not have to use it.
