Before I got my ACE 29.4 I drove a little 23 ft. Itasca Navion. We went to several parks without a toad and always enjoyed our stay. We would pull in and only occasion plug into shore power or water, choosing to use battery power and the on-board water tank. When we got ready to go somewhere we just fired up the engine, cranked down the antenna and went! But on that trip we were never in one place for more than a day or two. Our rule was to travel with just the Navion and leave the toad at home if we were going to be hopping around a lot (didn't seem worth the hassle of hooking up and unhooking the toad for a single day's jaunt). But if were were planning to be in one place for 3 or more days, we would pull a little soft top Jeep Wrangler. (I guess I should add, we had bicycles on a rack on the back, which helped us to get around the parks.)
