Squerly,
No doubt: she's a real beauty!
But I was wondering...
I didn't see anything about LED lighting, or an automatic leveling system...

Are they not there; or were they just not mentioned?

Leveling jacks? LED lighting?

It comes stock with a scissors jack and some wooden blocks to level it out. And there are a couple of battery-operated lanterns that you hang around the inside for lighting. But that’s if you need light. I figure I’ll just remove the cardboard that the previous owner put over the windows and that should give me some light from outside.

But yes, it has an automatic leveling system and LED’s throughout. I just listed the stuff that I though was cool. You know, new stuff to learn how to work on…

I'll probably take the woodstove out and replace it with a couple of big box fans. My guess is it gets pretty hot inside that thing.

You are correct vegasruv24. I found the full specs on the 2009 Phaeton and it is the 8.3 litre diesel. So good deal, more power!

Full Specs Here

I've been building my Jeep for a trip to Moab, Utah next year, so I'm sure my Jeep is a little heaver than most. But wow, that V-10 didn't like those 8% grades at all. (Did real well going down the other side though... )

So while I was at the campground, I did a little Internet shopping and fixed the problem. I'll pick it up next week.
Nice rig, enjoy

Your post reminds me of pulling the Rockies back in the 70's with a 460 a d large camper

The gas gauge went left following the speedometer a d back then only three gears

Moab is a fun place a d so is the down town

Many great cafes and bars

We're not leaving for Utah until this time next year, Bob. :-) But I'll post some video when we get there!

Did you use Tow / Haul? We were all over Tenn. and NC mountains with our V-10 towing a car with no problems

I pull a Honda CR-V behind my Windsport. We have been to Pigeon Forge a couple times and across the Rocky Mountains. I don’t use the cruise control while in the mountains. I down shift to keep the RPMs in the 3500 range and the V-10 did well. It was a little slower but the noise from 4000+ RPMs was not there.

Go down in the same gear as you go up in or down shift to one gear lower if long down hill.

I think that secretly I wanted my wife to hate the trip and insist that we get a diesel. Don’t tell her, OK?

We haven't had any problem with our v-10, but we Know we can't go as fast, and try not to push it

As I mentioned earliner on in this thread, mine is an older 5-speed transmission. The newer 6-speed transmissions would have a better gear ratio to work with. l think that may be the problem?
