there's no good reason why they do 'anything' - as, yes, it seems to make little 'sense' to provide a switch somewhere that's not intuitive to what it is needed for - such as, just maybe, provide the switch in the DRIVERS area instead(?)...well, they won't, because that would be 'too hard' to manage - since 120v power is hard to get 'into' the driver side area of most any Class A coach.
There are only two ways to 'handle' the switch: remember - it's ONLY powered when you are on SHORE power or GENERATOR power - otherwise, it matters not that it might be 'ON'. Of course, the light is there to let you know it's actually POWERED and should be working, as it is not something you could 'know' was working, otherwise.
