Very cold in Texas
Wind chill showed 12 last night cold all day.
We found that keeping inside heat 68 digress, open cabinets, put on tank heaters and REMOVE bedroom draw near fresh water tank , plumbing and pump worked!
Temp near plumbing 50 degrees

12 degs wind chill is irrelevant to objects such as water. Their temp will never go lower then ambient temp.

Coldest we stayed in our Axis was freezing (like 32F).

Very first weekend with it, all weekend freezing (April in Michigan is very iffy with the weather). It did test out the furnace LOL (burned through the whole tank of propane in that first weekend--typically the propane tank lasts all summer LOL).

No issues aside from some extra condensation on the inside.

The trick is a 1500w heater and set propane to the exact temp you want to keep inside...80% electric heater will maintain. We can go 3 to 4 days under 32 this way

Yeah was the first weekend out in the new RV so didn't have much and wasn't expecting it to be that cold LOL.

Now I use a small heater like that to put a load on the generator when I run it in storage in winter (and to give me a bit of heat while I'm "hugging the camper" ).

Coldest we have stayed in RV unwinterized was 19* all we did was run propane heat and a 1500watt heater. We don't have heat pads, but I think the basement vents are near or provides some warm air. The electric heater is actually used by us to overcome all the glass in the front and the fact there propane heater is physically at the rear of the coach.

Point of note, we were not expecting those temperatures, I would have winterized had I had my 1 gal Makita compressor to blow water out.

I am traveling now and fully winterized. I have my Thetford portion potti in bath room and plenty of bottled water.

That was current temperature. He was referring to the overnight low. That is in the picture as well.

We just got back from Utah a few weeks ago in our Thor Siesta 24SS. The last two days we had 9 degrees at night and 20 degrees during the day. I used the small electric heater to maintain the heat above the thermostat for the furnace. We used about 1/2 tank of propane for the 6 days we were there in the snow. We slept at night inside the motor home. I also covered the all of windows to reflect the heat inside which made a good difference. I plan on keeping the window covers for summer camping to help keep it cooler inside in hot climates.

Can we assume you were unwinterized and you had no freeze damage... just living like normal in RV at 9* temperatures?

Nice I am sure we can do 9 degrees unwinterized with window covers we have drawers open main draw near water tank and pump removed .electric heater propane set to 68 and tank heaters

That is correct dkoldman. We had no damage. My tanks had the heaters turned on plus my furnace has a vent that goes into the bay where my fresh water tank is located to keep that warm. I have no exposed water lines under the coach. I also wrapped the exposed black sewer pipes with insulation to help protect them. I have the hot water on demand water heater that would heat up to keep from freezing as needed. This was our 2nd trip in the winter to Utah. Last year the average night time temp was 16 and day time was 32. This year it was much colder(9 night and 20 day). I did use bottled water and pink r v anti freeze in the toilet. Bottled water for sink use.

I ran a 1500w heater a few times too until I did some research and found numerous cases of the cheap stab style receptacles burning up. I run a couple on 750w now and monitor receptacle temps.

So how is your microwave plug? I would think it violate some electrical code if any receptacle could not handle at least 15 amps. Did you by any chance use an extension cord on the 1500 watt heater that plugged into the receptacle?

I ask because I actually have two 1500 watt heaters . I normally on use both of them when it is freezing and I have shorepower because the energy is free or already paid for. If my furnace is on, one 1500 watt is all I need
