That should read Hickam AFB...my apologies to aviation pioneer Lieutenant Colonel Horace Meek Hickam for not having edited my post fully.

Ken,

What was your AfSC? Must have been in electronics since you were at Keesler.
Fuchu AFB?

I was in the triangle area at Keesler. 3386th squadron. Biloxi then was nothing like what it is now. Was just down there this past weekend.

I had requested Japan or Philippines. Suppose they just decide to station me in the Pacific but couldn't complain. Lost some good friends in Vietnam.

Regards.

Telecommunications, wanted radio maintenance; I was at Camp Drake. Army hospital facility mostly about an hour from Tokyo. 500 of our brothers wounded in Nam every two weeks. A few of our sisters also.
Then a year on a mountain top on the opposite side of the world.

Retired Submariner

I retired from the Navy in 2007, 20 years of submarine service. Never saw an overseas tour, but many underseas tours...

I thank everyone here for their service. Each one of you did your part to preserve the freedoms of this country.

I second that and wish everyone a great Veteran's Day and that you will get out and vote, and vote wisely today if you haven't already.

Thanks to one and all Veterans Past and Present for your service to this great Country.

With November 11th just the end of the week the public sector are taking note and as such are offering many discounts and freebies to the Veteran.

Please go to themilitarywallet.com and download the Veterans day free meals and discounts listing.

I retired in 1995 and it is nice to see the appreciation these days (a lot different than in the early 1970's)!

Grandfather served in WW1, fought in the Arden forest, he lost hearing in left ear due to grenade, shot in left leg, walked with a limp until passing at the age of 96!

It was an honor to have served! Thank you to every veteran for serving and also to everyone for supporting or troops!!!

New member and first post, glad to have found this site with all the great info.

USAF 1970-1976, crew chief on Phantom F-4 fighter, many TDY'S (deployments).
It is so great to receive this appreciation for our service to our country as those of us that served during the 60's and 70's will understand.
