Central Florida Rally Redo

The October gathering of Thor RVs was cancelled by Hurricane Matthew, so we’ll try it again. Welcome to all Vegas, Axis, and other Thor owners! Two nights, Friday, Nov 4th and Saturday, Nov 5th, Southern Palms Resort in Eustis, Florida. This is a big RV and mobile home park, and they have promised to put us together. They have a big pool and hot tub, and lots of activities.

Call the resort at 352-357-8882 to make your reservations. Then PM me to let me know you are coming. The rate is $40 plus tax, which is the Good Sam rate, regardless if you are a Good Sam member. (They don’t accept Passport America in the winter months.) They are Thousand Trails and Coast to Coast.

Tell them you are camping with Mr Sunshine and the Thor group, so they can put you with us. Check in and check out are at 11 AM. The address for Southern Palms is 1 Avocado Lane, Eustis, Florida 32726.

This weekend is totally non-sponsored and non-sanctioned, and we don’t have an agenda or program. There will be plenty of time for sharing travel stories and rig modifications. We’ll gather Friday afternoon for happy hour and to make dinner plans. There’s a great Greek/Italian restaurant within a half mile.

I asked a camper in this area how he chose this place, and he said, “I tied a snow shovel to the ladder on the back of my rig, and when somebody asked me what that thing was, I knew I was far enough South!”

Starting to get some response on this gathering, Nov 4-6 in Eustis, Florida. Normal weather at this time is outstanding. Join us!

Attached is a site map for Southern Palms... Don't believe they have this on their website - they had to send to me...

The Pines section (left side of map) is where the Rally's go... The Blue are 'standard' back-in sites... Yellow are larger sites... and Pink you park parallel to road.

(Other sections: Palms is primarily mobile homes... Suns is combination of mobile homes and RVs. Personally I like Pines the best.)

If you arrive early - Thurs morning (8-1) is weekly flea and farmers market at the county fairgrounds - you'll see it on the map.

I am aware of 5 RVs, counting ours. There may be more that haven't let me know. Room for more in our designated area. A good time will be had by all, no matter how many show up!

What time of day is everyone planning on arriving at the campground? We are shooting for just after the lunch hour, say 1:30 to 2:00 PM. See you when you get there.

Another Axis coming in, and maybe another Vegas too. Just invited a fellow I met with a 20+ year old Thor, and he is considering coming. It's going to be the biggest little rally we've ever had! (Well, also the first!)

Remember, there is no agenda, some are coming in early, some later, some maybe only one night. I suggest happy hour at 4PM, or earlier, and walk to dinner at 5. Southern Palms has entertainment on Saturday evening.

Not too late to join us! There's no cutoff on reservations. Call the resort directly at 352-357-8882 to make your reservations. Tell them you are with Mr. Sunshine and the Thor group. Then PM me to let me know you are coming.

We are leaving work early hope to be on the road by 2 and arriving at 4. Hopefully we will make happy hour. ��

Since we have no rules, happy hour starts whenever anyone decides to be happy!

Just a reminder: The whole weekend is BYOE, bring your own everything. Publix and WinnDixie are about a mile away. We'll do dinner Friday evening at Stavro's, for anyone arriving late. It's a short walk away. Dinner Saturday evening will either be Stavro's again, or pizza delivered, unless the group comes up with a better suggestion!
