Walmart parking !!!!

Walmart parking has been great for our trip from Michigan down to Yuma then north to California and now up to Klamath Oregon.But this is the first Walmart we are unable to spend the night. So if you are in Klamath Oregon don't try to stay at Walmart. This is just a heads up for people passing through. Tux

Police made us leave Walmart in MT. Dora Fl. at 3 AM. No signs. Said it was city ordinance against sleeping in any parking lot.
Maybe we should start a Thread on Walmarts that we are not allowed to stay in overnight.

Some places have local ordinances to prevent vagrants from living on the streets. Some have gone so far to get jalopy RVs to justify the legality so the rules to thwart those in some cases can impede upon the regular RV owner.

I have seen a Wal Mart in the City limit of Denver CO with signs posted everywhere no overnighting, but it always has 3 or 4 legitimately looking RVs. But with all the State Parks in the Denver area and foothills; who wants to stay at Wal Mart

There are hundreds of those. A thread would be impractical.

There is a Google Maps created by a user that is dedicated to that proposition. Also includes Cracker Barrels. I have it bookmarked. I can't recall where that link came from...

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...0308284854&z=5

It's already on that map as "Not allowed".

That map can be handy but not always accurate. It leans towards the "Not Allowed". It has our Walmart as "Not Allowed" but RVs stay there almost every night, especially in the snowbird migration seasons. There are signs that say no truck overnight parking.

Google;
Wal-Mart in the town I want to stay.

Phone;
Hello, Wal-Mart? Can I park my rv overnight in your parking lot?

Walmart;
Yes/no?

You;
PLAN ACCORDINGLY!!!

Mystery solved by adult thought process and miniscule amount of self action.

Why is adulting so hard?

You make everything so simple

True story. The 1st night we bought our RV, I am driving in a strange state, I think it is called Florida , but as you can imagine it was our first trip in the new RV 915 hours to get back to the safety of Texas).

I was white knuckling on I-95 North trying my damnest to let my wife think we were ok, but I was pissing in boots with every truck passing, and every bump. I was barely doing 60mph; so I was also being a pest idiot for other drivers.

Anyway, my 1st stop ever in the RV was at a Wal Mart in Daytona Beach off I-95. It was very dark parking lot, but very nice looking; must have been upscale neighborhood. I parked in the back way by ourselves and get out, after kissing the ground I look up and see a sign that says "NO OVERNIGHT PARKING"

My wife knew I had enough so you goes inside the store while I fool around with how some things works in the RV. She comes back and says she talked with the Store Manager and he said we could spend the night

While sitting my wife goes back in the store and bought all kinds of stuff we would need to get back home in a new RV. i.e. Pillows, blankets, toilet paper, food, etc. you name it. We had flown in to West Palm Beach that same morning so we had nothing but simple luggage. She spent well over $300 at that Wal Mart. We left the next morning at 7:00AM no problem.

My Jr year in highschool I lived in rural Missouri.
Hiway hh outside of urbana Missouri.

A teacher(a tall comparatively elegant and cultured woman)often invited OLD local farmers to speak about whatever they wanted to.
It's the first time I ever heard;
'Not smart enough to pour piss out of a boot'.

Life changing.
They seemed to have no impact as the talks happened.
Deeply deeply affecting as life moved on.
I'd like to think I'm doing them proud.

And
If we stay at a pizza place or antique shop or walmart, we load up.
It's only, and barely, fair.
We've had from microwave hotdogs to pheasant depending on the quality of the golf course clubhouses we've stayed at.

Often it is not Walmart but rather the owner of the land that prohibits the overnight parking. Many Walmarts are on leased land and the land owner maintains the grounds and prohibits the overnight parking.

There used to be an AT&T commercial with a guy standing outside a closed restaurant. The advertisement ended with two words "Phone first".

Personally, even if we pulled into a lot full of RV's we would still call or speak to a manager before we settled in for the night.

Because they have taught not to.

PS89:

I clicked on your link and now have a map full of Xs and check marks. And I can confirm that those in NW Ct are accurate.

But how do I turn them off?

Uncheck the checkmarks to the left of the reqions, etc that you don't want to see. Scroll down for more uncheck options.

The Xs and checks just went away by themselves. Must have a sell by date. But how do you see that menu on the left side of your page above?

I am pretty sure most Walmarts banned overnight parking because of a few inconsiderate truck drivers parking too close to the front, and all the trash and pee bottles they left behind, also I have seen some states have used a windshield boot for infractions, while most really donít enforce there rule, some do aggressively.

Donít blame just the truck drivers. There are many RV owners that are total pigs as well.

What is a windshield boot?

Also, being born and raised in WV, I was taught never to ďpiss in my bootsĒ!
