Try using RV Life and AllStays apps. We have used them for over 22,000 miles. They list RV dump/potable water sites both free and for a minor $ amount. It is surprising the number of towns that have sites for free or a minor charge. Also gas/diesel stations that are available that seem to be in small/midsize towns that have services. Our area has been the Western States, Alaska and Canada.

I got water from an Alaskan state park on the way to Homer that was filled with sand. One glass and I drained the whole tank and refilled it and dumped it multiple times before I got all the sand out. I’m not sure it would have made me sick, but it probably would have killed my water pump.

We fill up at public water supply's and ours goes through the filter if you don't use the gravity fill

Over the years filling up in camp grounds we have gotten sand and iron plus sulphur several times

If you can fill through a 20 micron or smaller filter it minimizes sediment issues

If the water isn't chlorinated then I add about 1 ounce of 3% peroxide per 10-15 gallons of water for a precaution as we use the potable water

"Sick from it? No...

But when the Barley Pops run out: I've been known to get sick OF it!

I wouldn't worry about it. Drink up! It builds character and gives the body an array of foreign substances to combat, increasing white blood cells and boosting the immune system

LOL - JK.

No and I have been drinking campground water since mom and pop took us camping when we were still in diapers. That said some campground water 💦 doesn’t look or taste too good so we always use a filter at the spigot.

@ The_Breeze.... something along side of the saying: what didn't kill you makes you stronger...? LoL Nothing has killed me yet either, so you wouldn't believe how strong I am supposed to be! I conditioned my kids the same way, drinking campground water when we had our campers and drug them around everywhere (they loved it). We never filled the tanks back then. I am still bug free last time I checked.
