Water Heater; THOR AXIS 25.2

I am currently trying to replace a water heater element in a friends RV. You can see the water heater unit through the JACK-KNIFE couch, but there is no way to reach the unit for the element replacement. Any suggestions out there regarding a way to gain access??

Are you talking about replacing the corrosion protection anode? That is reached from the outside.

Even if the side panel is loosened, no access to the water heater. It seems I will have to make a cut in the bathroom wall to reach for element replacement. It seems the cabinet was built on top of this area to reach the water heater

This is the water heater element itself with heats the water; electric use

Any chance of removing the unit from the outside?

On mine the element is attached through the back and it is necessary to remove the whole unit from the coach. It is removed from the outside and is not especially difficult. Just be careful not to damage the coach finish when you are cutting through the sealant around the edge.

I trie to remove it from the outside, but it seems that water lines are preventing this removal. I do not want to cut the lives which causes more problems for the re-install

Well yes, they also attach at the back and you’ll have to disconnect them. It’s a whole lot easier than the heating element. Good luck.

We also had to remove our hot water tank from the outside. 2 person job. Ended up calling mobile rv repair. Well worth it.
