Make sure you lock up your elec. bikes with a heavy chain. My $1500. one got stole in Vegas last winter while chained to the picnic table.

We have two Pedego eBikes. We love them, they have gotten wet from rain but not a heavy rain so far. Excellent bikes with pedal assist and a throttle.

Many styles available, my wife likes the step through frame, I like the the regular, what was called a boys bike in my youth.

I like Pedego because I felt they would be around for a long time to support the bike. Also have a dealer near me with many bikes in stock to try.

look for local support and a manufacturer that has been around a while.

What is the weight of these bikes, and what sort of bike rack would accommodate these E bikes. I have a Thor freedom elite which I have attached a bike rack to the rear bumper.

I did a ton of research, so many options and availability. Figure out what you are willing to spend. What kind of surfaces you intend to use them on. Around the campground and neighborhood or up rough trails. Research the different battery types and how long they last. Plus there are different gearing systems. Do you want the skinny seats or the wide ones, a fender to attach a basket to? There is no one good answer. I ordered my ebike from REI with right of refusal when it came in. Rads are good. I think small tires on compact bikes are a rough ride and prone to over react in ruts. Mine is an Elecktra Townie step through. I love it. Battery lasts a long time, but there is no fixed time. If you use a higher assist, it uses more battery. If you do a lot of hills, it uses more battery.

The ebikes weigh 60 lbs each. only a couple of bike racks from Thule are recommended. Their $400+ model wasn't available for months, We go the $600+ model and are happy with it, it has wheels for easy moving it, weighs about 55 lbs.. the $800 model folds up into a smaller package when not in use.

People all seem to love the bikes they have. Me too. My wife and I use Juiced Bikes, a small manufacturer in San Diego. For me, they are by far the best bang for the buck. I go 215 lbs, and a 40-mile ride has yet to use half the battery power available, per the gauge. They advertise 80-100 miles of range, and they are right, for a very competitive $2k - $2.5k A variety of models are available. They have been rained on far too often, with no damage. Mine has 3800 trouble free miles on it, new tires at 3400 mi. Check out their website.

We have 2 ecotric bikes and have never had problems with them. Mine is the Dolphin with the low rise.
Both are folding bikes, fat tire mountain /beach bikes.
We are able to fold them and put them in our storage.
We ride them all over the beach in Saint Augustine

Electric Bike Company

Several batteries: Cheapest will take you 40 miles and the best will go 120.

Bikes are custom built in Newport Beach CA.

E-Bikes

We bought 2 Dost Bikes, 750w mid-drive. Throttle & Peddle Assist. We bought an additional battery which allows us to go 120 miles. More than enough even on throttle only.

We’ve had two Pedego step-through bikes for about six years. They let us go places without having to worry about whether we’re going to face a long uphill slog on the way back. Use ‘em to get groceries, visit laundromat etc while camping, or just do some up-close sightseeing.

My only peeve with them is the weight. Like (I think) all e-bikes, they are heavy and we had to get one of those specialized Thule bike racks for the RV to carry them. The older we get, the more I wish we could find a better solution but there’s no way we’d go camping without them. Easy to get a cheap waterproof bike cover to strap over them while RVing, which keeps them dry and clean, and out of sight from anyone who might try to wander off with them.

After much reading I came to the conclusion that 2-3 different types of locks are better than just one. Takes longer to cut through 3 types of metals/cables. Need more cutters.

Those are the ones to "not get wet".

Keeping moisture off the ebike is going to be tricky where I find it rains even when there's ZERO chance of rain... Avoiding riding thru puddles to keep the rear tire dry could be tricky, and what about humidity and morning dew??? These are all new concerns for me moving forward. I know eBikes are not "waterproof" but there's no way to keep the bike from getting wet on the back of the RV as the covers I've used in the past still allow road moisture to get up from behind the RV's tires under the cover...
