What modifications have you done to quiet the interior of your coach?

I'd like to know what people have done to decrease the sound inside the coach.

I have a 29M and when I'm driving down a Hwy that isn't in great shape, the coach sounds like it is going to fall apart because it's so noisy.

The cabinets above the windshield rattled like crazy so I put some felt sick-on's and that solved that problem. Then I have the bedroom and bath doors...they rattle like crazy.

I did take off the engine cover (well not completely), an felt the underside...I could tell there was insulation there, so I just closed that back up.

I have been thinking of perhaps putting carpet around the cab (seats/engine) thinking perhaps that would quiet the road noise. And if it got dirty, I could just lift it out and shake it out.

If you made some sound improvements when it comes to noise, I'd like to hear them.

Take that engine cover back off and start there - dozens of threads here detailing installing Dynamat and other sound deadening material on the cover and below the floor.

Hey Ted...I did search the forum but only found a couple of threads...perhaps I wasn't using the right search words.

As I mentioned, there is an insulation material on the inside of the cover...can I put the Dynamat on top of it, or do I have to remove what is in there and then put this on?

I know you did some other things...but that was in a post I had created that wasn't specifically dedicated to sound deadening.

The threads explain the engine cover part. Remove the heat shielding, apply Kilmat or Dynamat, then replace the heat shielding... lest ye melt the Dynamat...

Then do the floor as detailed in the threads. Use those as tutorials for anywhere else you wish to apply sound deadening foam.

It's why premium $$$$ coaches put carpet lining in their storage bins.

As a bonus, read up on sound resonance... it will help you determine the most effective areas to insulate.

What threads? The reason I asked this question and as I said to ACE, I couldn't find information in what people did.

i will add, sound mat installations on wheel wells makes a huge difference as well
peel back the plastic fender liner and add the mat to the metal skin and then put liner back in.
world of difference in the reverbs

Dynamat vs Kilmat

Here is another link that discusses the various sound deadening material. It has a lot of good information.

I notice that my bedroom/bath door rattle like crazy. I stuck a sponge between them and that stopped them banging...this to me is kind of hooky...any other ideas?

What have people done when it comes to dishes, bowels, pans, racks in the oven...etc?

Towels, cookies in packages, pot holders etc... get stuffed between our clanky things in the drawers and cabinets. Last trip a couple things got moved from pots and pans to the bed as we drove. Towel was placed under the glass in the microwave.
Somebody posted that they put a beachball between their slide and the coach wall and blow it up slightly to keep slide quite. Nothing is hooky if it works for you.

Anyone use "B-Quiet"? Claims to be the same as Dyamat at half the cost.

Sounds like a friend of mine that bought a travel trailer, first time out and a bottle of ketchup blew-up. The inside looked like a horror scene from "Friday the 13th". What a mess...but I couldn't stop laughing. Him and his wife didn't think it was so funny, which made it even funnier!!

I didn't think of the microwave...and we have that glass disc that spins...good idea!!

I have been searching online for which is better Dynamat or B-quiet. For what it's worth, I found this online.

Out of Dynamat Extreme and B-quiet, dE is a much better product

The adhesive is designed to be used in a car (not on a roof like b-quiet, which is roofing tape resold as a vibration damper)

The foil on DE is twice as thick as the foil on BQ, which is a huge benifit. HUGE!

4 mil foil compared to 2 mil foil is going to do a much better job damping.

Dynamat extreme is better in every way, except price.

My MH is pretty quiet ref. inside noise but outside noise (wind and road noise) and heat from the road and the cat. converter where bothering me so last year I installed the below sound deadening in the front wheel wells and under the floor all the way back to the cat converter.
It really reduced the road noise and the heat from the floor was eliminated.
