Where should I visit

Not sure that this qualifies but I live in So. Ca. Besides obvious disadvantages and like having problem knowing what season it is here without looking at a calendar. Where would a nice place to visit and maybe move to because California is heading in wrong direction.

New England- VT in particular- nothing beats it.
Every time we go West, we get home and wonder why we left, but there are places we like, but not to live in.

VT has the best fall colors, and recently more people than cows. I am a lifer here and still finding more to see after 70 yrs of being here (66 actually, 3 in Pa and 1 in NY- no contest) Just stay out of the cities.
Not far from the other NE states and Canada.

A lot of Californians are moving to Idaho or Tennessee. Both states seem to be attractive for tax reasons as compared to here in California. Try taking trips to possible locations first to see how well you can adjust to the area and people before moving out completely.

A major consideration for travel area for everyone is dictated by RV size.

That area is defined, or narrowed again by financial constraints.

Most of the rest is personal preference...

We avoid large metro areas at ALL costs. We avoid areas rife with low "old world" underpasses and tunnels. Our travel season is from April 1st to November 1st; we avoid (if at all possible) areas where temperatures exceed 90 degrees F during that time.

Your preferences WILL vary from ours. That's the beauty of RV life.

East Tennessee, where we live, has become a heaven for people to move to from every direction in the US. We even have what we call halfbacks who are folks that moved from the north to Florida and found out it was way to hot there and move half way back to North Carolina or Tennessee. I was born and raised in North Carolina but glad we don't live there because of the taxes.

Two houses went up for sale in our subdivision last year and both of them were purchased by retired couples from Chicago. Everyday we see licenses plates from California on cars belonging to people who recently moved here.

Knoxville is not a large city but has just about anything you need including the University of Tennessee. A number of major hospitals and the Smokey Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood are just a few miles away. We live out in the county about 20 miles from Knoxville and 12 miles from major shopping. Moved out here 19 years ago when I retired from the Oak Ridge National Lab. That is another thing about the area, we have a lot of technology based companies.

I would suggest you stay in California. Get involved in local issues and help fix the mess. Find like minded individuals and organize. Go to local board meetings and express your concerns. One thing I have noticed here in Texas is that when Californians move into an area, during the next election cycle they vote for the exact policies that have made California the mess it is. Pretty soon, the states Californians are moving to will be as as dysfunctional as the state they left.

The share of registered voters who are Democrats (46.2%) has increased slightly since 2020 (45.3%), the year of the last presidential election. The share of Republicans (24.7%) has held steady (23.9% in 2020).
About two in ten voters (21.9%) are independents (also known as “decline to state” or “no party preference” voters); this share has declined since 2020 (25.1%). Meanwhile, the share registering with a minor political party has increased from 5.7% in 2020 to 7.2% today.
Twenty years ago, Republicans made up a much higher share of the electorate: in October 2004, more than one in three voters (34.7%) were registered as Republicans. The share of independents (17.7%) was somewhat lower in 2004, and the Democratic share (43%) was slightly lower than it is today.

It only takes the move in or out of a major manufacturer to change the economy. I remember when IBM (I bring money) started building IBM PCs in the Research Triangle Park in between Raleigh and Durham, NC. The little town of 44 thousand I grew-up in became an metropolis. Raleigh was on of the two state capital cities not on the Interstate system. Ten years later there were 150,255 residents within the expanded city limits.
I have lived in 8 states and made 11 moves in my working careers. I met and married my wife in Albuquerque, NM; the coldest was Grand Forks, ND; the most isolated was Caribou, ME; the worst traffic was Sacramento, CA; the most unfriendly people were were in Champlaign-Urbana, IL; the worst weather was Lubbock, TX; the best recreational area was Murray, KY and the worst access to medial care was in Valdosta, GA.

We current reside in a Life Care Community (independent living) with 60 RV parking spots all with 50 amp pedestals, in Bexar County, TX. The largest city in the county is San Antonio (Military City, USA), but there are 42 other incorporated city and towns within Bexar County. We reside about 7 miles west of San Antonio in the east edge of the TX Hill Country.

One thing about Texas, it is big 30.5 million citizens in 268,600 sq-mi. If you are planning on working, please come TX is short of people willing to work. The city of Rockdale, TX is the Bitcoin mining center of the world with 10 of the top 15 miners in the world. Starting pay for a maintenance tec with a is well over 100 grand. Of course the Tesla, Dell, Samsung, Amazon, BAE Industries, Oracle, Toyota, Joint Base San Antonio, Simbotic, NSA to name a few have a presence here.
San Antonio is a large tourist destination with the Alamo, River Walk, Six Flags, Sea World, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, plus 10 famous museums. The Cowboy Capital of the World is Bandera, TX is 65 miles to the northwest. The Gulf is 110 miles to the southwest.

Is it hot during the summer months? Well, yes is currently 93 F with 37% humidity. I am typing this sitting on our screen-end porch under the ceiling fan having a foamy beverage. Retirement is good.

South TX is a great place to visit.

Raleigh, NC is on the list. The weather is not so bad but it is close to the coast and subject to hurricanes. In fact these days all of Florida and the Eastern Seaboard all the way up to Newfoundland are subject to hurricanes. I went to college in Raleigh, worked in Durham for a few years and was born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina. I love North Carolina but not very fond of the taxes there. I was born to the Wolf Pack but my blood is now orange. Married a Knoxville girl and when she bleeds it is ORANGE!
