Is it a Xantrex Pro 1800 inverter? That was the manufacturer of the inverter the OP was working with.

Yes, Xantrex 1800 Pro but the display is a Xantrex 1000 Pro. My next step might be to find a 1800 Pro Display panel, connect it and see if it works.

Xantrex 1800?? back again

Hello folks, back again after 3400 miles and almost a year. I recommend replacing the Xantrex units with something more dependable and cost effective. If it is not in an accessible area put it in one and run new cables. I have blanket warranty so before I left and after I put in 4 new house batteries, I called a mobile tech, he determined the 1800 was not working too, so he contacted Xantrex, and they said the 1800's were faulty and sent out a 2000. If my 2000 goes bad, I'm certainly not going to replace it with another Xantrex. Good luck and happy travels.

Xantrex actually make pretty good units, and their customer service is usually spot on as well. You could do a lot worse with a no-name Chinese inverter.

hello 16Ace27

Everyone has opinions, they are like well you know. I have mine. It is drawn from experience. I think it is a crap shoot as far as what one gets in any respect. but when there are continuous issues with a product and the supplier / assembly company says there are problems, well that says a lot to me. I said supplier didn't I. Well no investigation on my part. I doubt all the components in the 1800 units are made in the USA? Not to mention without investigation there are probably pretty good units not made in the USA.

I would guess, it is the data cable rather than the display causing the problem. Then again it could be the chip in the inverter itself. I have lived with four different Xantrex inverters in three different motor coaches. My current inverter is a Xantrex Freedom Xi 2000. It works fine until I try to draw more than 16 amps out of it, then is goes into a hard shutdown. I just have to trip the 30 amp 120 volt CB and the 250 amp 12 volt CB. When I reset both of them, all is well again.

I have a 2017 Four Winds 31w. The inverter is behind a cabinet under the fridge without a good place to access. you literally have to lie on the floor and stretch your hands to reach it.

2016 Thor 31W inverter

There is no trip button on the 1800. I finally gave up and replaced the 1800 with a more expensive 2000 and everything has been working fine.
When my first 1800 shorted out and I spoke to the Xantrex tech support he did recommend going to the 2000 but I thought why spend more money? Well almost one year to the date the second 1800 called it quits. Hopefully the 2000 will last longer. It seems to be more rugged and does have a reset button. It was no small challenge install however!
