Ford v10 oil change - inaccessible fill spout

Subject: Oil Change

The oil filler spout is located on top left side of engine, is inaccessible for pouring oil from a 1qt bottle into the oil fill spout (a contortionist could do it but not me!!).

I need an ‘oil transfer pump’ DC powered to pump new oil straight from the 5 qt bottle into the oil filler spout. I am looking at a ‘PLUMIA’ brand which appears to have all the parts (2 hoses, clamps, gloves, etc). Has anyone used this PLUMIA brand pump or another pump brand to accomplish the ‘refill’ end of the oil change ??

The pump is a good idea.
Warm the oil and pump in Sun or with a heater.
Cold oil is super slow and will bog/stall your pump.

I have no experience with that particular pump.

We have been using a length of plastic hose and a nozzle with a valve on the bottle then squeezing the oil in. But that pump looks handy dandy! I think that will be in the tool arsenal before the V10's next service

I just put an on/off spout directly on the 1 quart bottle. Works great but a bit slow. I have a 2020 29m.

I use a hand pump and it works fine. It is an exercise in patience though.

What brand is the 'B01MSTPB7J'?? My search shows 'HANPERAL' at 5 Liter per min.

This flowrate seems too high. I was thinking of something in the 1 LPM range.

I buy oil in four quart jugs and transfer about one quart at a time it to a one quart oil bottle It takes time, but I usually don't spill much.

Went to Wally World last week to pickup some transmission fluid and saw this spout:

Picked one up for $.78 and it worked great to top off the transmission. Seems like a good option for hitting the oil fill on the F53 with single quart containers.

Yes - that fill location is a challenge! There is a small manual pump that screws into the quart bottle that can be obtained at marine stores. Same pump is used to fill outdrives from bottom. It is slow, but works well. I place my finger over hole and get it into the fill tube and let it go.

Oil filler cap is on upper RIGHT side of my Windsport V10. Use 1qt bottles and funnel. Never a drop spilled.

100 bucks at ford dealership in BIG RV barn. Grease, Lube, Change oil, check all the ford parts. never spill a drop!

I believe in DIY whenever possible.

Like many Ford RV chassis owners have experienced…
- the Ford Commercial Truck dealership is 30-50 miles from home (that’s 60-100 miles round trip or 10+ gallons of fuel)
- the dealership requires an appointment, and then once your rig is dropped off…they put you in line like a computer repair store
Thus, a simple oil change can take up to 8 hours.

Hence, it ain’t worth the cost, time, & effort.

I bought one of these after drowning the frame and driveway in oil during the first oil change. I highly second it’s use. And as Duck says, heat the oil a little to thin it out. You’ll wonder how you ever got along without one!

I agree with taylorbob, always do it myself. when / if the oil is 1 qt down, it is time to change it, so I remove the access panel at the passenger seat area and fill it there. I lub the ball joints while I am at it and change the air filter every other time at most.
I worked in the industry a long time ago and had many friends that did as well, and in my experience, would not trust anyone to change my oil, or work on my vehicle in general, especially with the poor quality of the work force. it is very easy to change oil, especially on rv with lots of room underneath. why would you have anyone else do it???

How do you deal with the oily tubing when you finish sucking out the oil?
