Covid-19: Is it impacting your plans?

I figured I'd touch the third rail topic of C-19 and ask if it is impacting your travel plans.

We are scheduled to leave on a 3 month RV trip up, down, around and back from the bread basket states come 1 April. This trip has been planned for 6 months and we are excited to leave. Lots of National Parks in our plans - gotta get my book stamped.

Given the current situation, we still plan to go. Albeit, my wife said I can do all of the grocery shopping in that big inexpensive store we frequent along the way. LOL. We've weighted the risk and can't justify staying home at this time.

Short answer No. Unless they shut down the great outdoors.

My thoughts: There isn't a better place to be than in an RV.

You're mobile so you can get out; you're isolated; only you've been in the RV; and if you're boondocking how are you going to catch anything (other than some fish??)

A really good map of where it currently is can be found on this John's Hopkins map:

I really didn't think the RV community would fall victum to the media's hype of the corona virus. I guess I was wrong.

Corona virus

I've been trying to talk Mr. Homer into an Alaskan cruise in July or August this summer but that's not going to work now! We plan to stick to our current plans of several short trips to the California coast in our motorhome. I do have to admit I have second thoughts about certain things - a concert this weekend I would like to see in a very large venue. Trying not to overthink it but using common sense at the same time.

we have food for 5 months in freezers, fuel for 3 weeks of generator 24/7 use, or 2 few months of we run 5 or 6 hrs per day to keep freezers frozen.
50 gallons of propane, pls 3, 20 lb bottles.

water for week or so, at our rv port house.

enough ammunition to quell the zombies

but we plan no freaking out unless its warranted, still going on trips

LOL! I think it's probably safer that you asked that question in the friendly confines of the Thor Forums. Had you asked the same question on any regular Facebook page, it would have turned into a long series of replies where you would have been called a "snowflake" or worse and the virus would have ultimately been blamed on Trump or global warming. And that people were tougher in the olden days. LOL! But, to answer your question, nope, it's not going to affect my plans. Just bought my RV over the winter and I can't wait to use it real soon.

My original plans were to go to the Grand Canyon and head north to South Dakota and back up to Canada but will go to our east coast not because of the new virus scare but because the Canadian dollar is tanking big time so will keep my money in Canada.
Keep well and safe Travels

Not a chance! I will do what I can - mostly hand washing I guess - but I refuse to let fear rule my life. Even if I “catch” it I apparently have a 96% chance of recovery. And if I perish, I perish. No worries.

Not yet, but I am hoping it will be a little quieter in Yellowstone this year.

I'll be keeping tabs with all the national parks we plan to visit starting in June. My guess everything will be back to normal by then

OK, ours is a different approach.
We flew the 9am plane from jordan to NYC on the 11th anniversary of 9/11.
We were in Egypt for the uprising, London for the snow shut down, Paris for the riots.
Italy the week after that jackass sunk the cruise ship waving at his girlfriend.

I'm sure there are going to be bargains to be had.

I haven't looked at travelzoo.com in a while.
Their last minute deals are hard to beat in times like these.

But

We just won't fly anymore unless forced to.
If the airlines changed their dress code... Maybe.
Flying now is like taking a greyhound bus 20 years ago.

I think I just heard, passingly;
NYC to lax was 198 round trip.
That's Disneyland at half the crowd and $1,600 airfare savings for a family of four....

You know what? I owe you an apology. With all that has happened since you originally posted your question and since I kind of laughed at the question, a whole lot has happened. Boy, this thing is getting crazy. I hadn't thought that they'd possibly consider closing campgrounds, but I'm starting to think it's a real possibility. They've canceled so many sporting events and entire seasons, I could see them shutting down campgrounds for a month or two also. I hope not, because I really can't wait to use my RV for the first time. I'll definitely be monitoring the situation closely though.

Actually, the national parks might be better. No tour buses full of people.
