Our April-May trip has been canceled, saving us $5,000+ dollars.
We have also canceled any hobbies and social functions so we are saving at least another $500 a week.
and now we will receive an extra $2400, to stimulate the economy, yet we can't leave our house for who knows how much longer.
I understand there are those who desperately need the money, especially small businesses.
But I also know a lot of friends and family members that have good finances that also don't need the money.
I would have liked to see this done some other way so it wouldn't be so wasteful.
Oh well I guess I will be making some nice Charitable donations this year.

There are lower income people who have small savings and more affluent people who are saddled with debt and are on the edge. As the government can only do at times is to throw money at a problem.
I dont agree with sending money oversees, giving to arts programs, to those not here legally, or any program not directly related to the economy.

Another reason to use direct payments or deposits. No check involved and front of the line.

We are in the camp of people who are fine financially and don't need the check we will be receiving. We will likely give at least some to our son who is a sommelier in wine sales. His small business employer is utilizing the loans(grants) to keep the employees on the payroll, but his commissions have dried up, which is half his income.
My point being that those who get the checks and don't need the money themselves, CAN find places to spend/give where it is needed. Charity, family or friends who's income is affected, and also importantly, spent locally when restrictions are lifted. You're local bars, restaurants, (and wine salesmen... ) thank you!

The sad part is that probably half the small businesses won't be around after this all clears up.
Giving money to people that don't need it to stimulate the economy is extremely wasteful especially if they can't leave their house to spend it.
We will still support those who need help whether local businesses or friends and family.
The $2400 is nothing compared to what we would normally spend in a months time, though we have increased online deliveries, but this also hurts local vendors.
Maybe it would have been better if this money was issued as a zero interest loan, If you don't need it you pay it back right away.

Some checks will be issued. Direct deposit if you have direct deposit set up with your bank. In this day and age, I can't imagine there will be that many physical checks getting distributed and have been wrong before. Only those with a Tax Payer ID will receive the money so that's good, in my eyes.
I guess no matter how you look at it and whether you agree with it or not, it's all water under the bridge. The deed is done. I'm a little concerned that the bill provides a ceiling of 6.2B and I'll keep my eyes peeled to see if it gets used.
The sad part is our kids will bear the brunt of this cost. With their SS in question already, maybe some of that money should be put toward better securing their future. I'm in the OK camp too and will probably ask my daughter if she can use it. She does pretty well on her own. If not, I guess I can donate to a shelter, food bank or whatever.

I will deposit in a saving account to make the payments on my grandson's car that I co-signed for as his job is in serious jeopardy.
