Nascar

As I sat bummed learning of the race postponements for 2020, I was delighted to watch the 1986 Richmond 400 on Fox News Sports this past Sunday. It was nice to see some of the older technology and large cars on a tight track, driven by names ling gone by.

Who remembers TBS from that era?

Sure brought back memories. I hope they do it again.

The CAPS problem still exists. Apologies for the mixed-case title.

I left NASCAR years ago because I found it boring as far as racing goes imo.
Over the past several years I have been a fan of IMSA and I travel to as many tracks as possible during the season with my RV. 2020 so far has been a challenge but they rescheduled the events and my plan is to attend 4 or 5 . I enjoy the racing of this series mainly because they have 3 classes of cars all racing together and that demands a tremendous skill set of the drivers when dealing with the speed differential between classes. Lots of good road racing and you travel around the course to view the different sections. The only circle racing I would attend is the Indy500 and that’s mostly for the spectacle of it, not the racing.
The only 2020 race I’ve been to in this unusual year is the Rolex24.

I did that in Watkins Glen. Walk through the drainage pipes to get to the other side of the track. I went there to see the Lowenbrau Special. I shot 4 rolls of 36 exposure film on that car through a Nikon F2. Man, what a day.

Love The Glen great track and a fabulous experience.,Road America is another favorite and of course Sebring has a very unique flavor and all of these IMSA races this year are so far being held with fans in attendance. I’ll be at them all ......hopefully ....and this year in my Outlaw!!

I wonder what ever happened to Can-Am and cars like the Lowenbrau Special?

I grew up in eastern NC in the era of dirt tracks at County Fairgrounds watching the likes of Freddie Lorenza, Fireball Roberts, Junior Johnson, Ralph Earnhardt. They'd raced modified cars in those days (late 50s).

When NASCAR went "corporate" and started moving "our races" out of the South I lost interest in NASCAR as the races started to remind me of slot car racing.

I say put seventy gallons of Hooch in a hidden tank, and let them try outrunning the Sheriff!

Oh wait: they already tried that!
