I read the article first - noted the "slant".
Researched the website second - paranoid induced conspiracy verified.

There are always those that will take the good that science provides us and turn it to nefarious purposes. The example of computer viruses is a good one. The example of being unable to keep viruses out of computers is a bad one. Why? Because the criminals are changing the viruses all the time.

So could someone use the technology behind these new vaccines for nefarious purposes? Sure, if they had the know how to "play God". But then, why would God allow that to happen? (Insert religious disclaimer here)

A Chinese scientist already went down that road, published a paper touting his "great" accomplishment, and was immediately lambasted by his peers.

It's just like the police: should we eliminate all police because some have overgrown egos and think they play by a different set of rules? Or should we just strive to eliminate the "bad cops" from the force?

There will always be folks out there believing the worst possible scenarios are only one decision away... :nononoa
I feel that it says more about their character; than anything else...

Stopped at a Target on the way back from the VA and the DW just sent me a text saying she is getting the vaccine. No appointment and no wait. She is getting the J&J single dose vaccine.

Does the J&J shot seem to be having the same type of side effects being reported?
(I hope it works great for her! )

We’ll know in the next day or two. Wish we stopped here before going to the VA clinic.

I can only report on the Pfizer shots. There are in a Village of 750+ residents. The oldest resident is 104 years old and the average age is just over 80 years old, 98% of the residents plus 220 of the staff receiver their first Pfizer shot on the 28th of December and their second shot on 19th of January. The only 4 residents who reported any discomfort with their shots were two couples who had previously had the Covid-19 disease. As for the wife and I, we had no symptoms at all, unlike the discomforts we feel when we are given our annual flu vaccine. Many thanks to Walgreens who sent a staff of 11 to the Village and got all of us vaccinated in 6 hours. Two mobile teams vaccinated our bed-ridden and confined residents while independent living residents were notified by the Omnialert system when to report to the vaccination center. About a 15 minute wait before the shot and 15 minutes confinement to check for reactions to the shot.

That confrims something else I had heard: the vaccine seems to hit folks who had contracted this disease; with the worst after-effects...

The day after the DW says she experienced some muscle tightness overnight but nothing uncomfortable after taking the J&J single shot vaccine.

So far, I have experienced no side effects so far from the Pfizer vaccine first shot.

I planned to get the vaccine as soon as I'm eligible preferably pfizer. My paranoid friend has now got into my brain about the mrna vaccine. I know mrna has been around for a few years but this is the first time it's been used like this. He says we're all guinea pigs and won't know the true long term side effects for possible years

J&J is a traditional vaccine so it doesn't have the unknown factor to it but "may not" be as good

Maria says she only has 20 more goods years of life so she fine with the mrna if she only has 20 years ill be lucky to have 10

So for the knowledge on the site mrna or j&j???

Jerry

Isn’t Pfizer also MRNA as well as Moderna?

Reported data for J&J is indeed lower than the +/- 95% for the other two, but if it’s 100% effective in preventing hospitalization or death, I suppose the real question is whether it’s “good enough” for you? It would be for me.

I got first available to me which was Moderna, but would have taken any of them. Both of my sisters and their husbands got the virus, and while younger one and her husband went through it OK, the older one and her husband were hospitalized. Two months after contracting the virus, they still get out of breath easily. He’s back at work but has to limit hours for now. Damage may be permanent — they don’t know yet. Just saying there’s risk either way.

We got both jabs of the Moderna vaccine. No effects on the first for me. My wife got "covid arm" - a small rash circle at the point of injection. The second was a bit more. We felt like we were hungover for the day after. But nothing since.

I'm not sure what the future will hold for this vaccine. But I'm also not sure what the future will hold for having the virus. I had chicken pox as a kid. Didn't think it would return 50 years later a much nastier. Virus are sneaky little buggers and can reemerge. Or they can just go away. This one's so new, we just don't know. We don't know the long term effects of the vaccine or the virus. Pick your poison.
