2nd question is, when my power goes off if a breaker blows from the power source and then I turn it back on my fuse box has a fan that goes on and the only thing that makes it turn off is clicking the little red light inside the front door. Is the noise in the fuse box a fan to cool it? And am I correct to hit the red button to turn it off?

Is your Four Winds a Sprinter Four winds? (Those are different from the Ford Four winds as far as battery charging.)

The switch inside the front door connects and disconnects the "house" battery--when off the house battery isn't providing power to the, er, "house". When the switch is on the fan you hear is from the converter charging the house battery (yes the fan is to cool the charger, is not a problem and can safely be ignored).

Hi Jeanie

Welcome to the forum. When you are driving, always have the use/store/switch turned on so that the batteries will charge from the engine. The use/store switch is usually a red light up switch. When you are not using your motor home and have it stored away, turn that switch off to turn off your batteries.

We have cancelled plans for Dec already....too many "ifs" for us. The park is trying to make safety first and to do that, there are restrictions... live with it. Believe me, if they could make money opening for everyone, they would do it but it's not working....the bug is here to stay.

It's a 30 ft Thor Four Winds class C. I understand about the batteries charging when it's plugged in to an electrical outlet at home or a campsite, but what I wanted to know is when you disconnect it should you reconnect that plug to the outlet that's inside the electrical bay. Does this recharge the batteries while you're driving?

Question 1: by the entrance stairwell is a switch to put the coach batteries in "Use" mode; or disconnect them for storage (sort of...)
Keep that switch in the "On", or "Use" position whenever you are driving, plugged into shore power, or just want to be using your RV. There's nothing to plugin: unless you're on shore power.
Question 2: I've honestly never had that happen in Mr RV... I don't know... (Sorry!)

If I understand correctly the answer is no. Your 30 amp cable does not need to be connected to anything while you are driving. If you are running the generator while you are driving the generator charges the batteries. If you are not running the generator then the chassis's alternator will charge the house batteries through the BIRD.

For photos, I on the edit screen or post reply. screen you have to "go advanced". Once in advanced editing you will see and icon of a paper clip. Clicking the paper clip will open a window that will allow you to attach photos or document within size limitations.

All kidding aside, welcome to the forum, Jeanie! It’s a wealth of knowledge! Lots of great people here.

Bob, I think y’all made the right decision. It’s better to stay on sure footing right now. We had our first long trip planned in April before this virus appeared. We have had our RV for just over a year, and had plans to really do some traveling this Spring. Oh, well. Now I’m thinking of trying to go to Mr. Rushmore in the fall before something happens to it. It’s one of the things on my bucket list, but that is a REALLY long trip.

We have two grandsons who are 4 and 2. The oldest will start kindergarten in the fall of 2021, so we are planning a trip to WDW this coming May. It’s a family trip with our son, daughter, son-in-law, and the boys. We would love to use our RV, but there is no way we would all survive in our Vegas. Even after 39 years of marriage, my husband and I do well to not strangle each other after a few days, lol. I just made our reservations last week. I hope things are closer to “back to normal” by the time we are supposed to visit.

Bob, I hope you and your bride enjoy your trip to Cooperstown. Above all, stay safe! And thanks so much for all the wisdom and wit you share in the forum.

Bob you waited a bit too long. We did Disney and Universal Studios in California first part of February before the Covid was closing everything up. It was grand, spent a whole 7 days over there. Even got into the new Star Wars experience (twice). Good luck.

I worked at Disneyland for 4 years (security/emergency services) after I retired. I was there 5-6 days a week and sometimes 12 hour days. What I was able to do was save up my annual family/special event passes and when I left in 2019, we drove in the motor home to Florida. We went to Disney World for 3 days for free with my passes. We also went to Universal for one day. I worked at Disneyland on graveyard the entire time since I wanted that shift. A different experience working there from just visiting the park.

The Missus and I have been to WDW about 14 times over the years, and our Son worked there for two years...
They have a very effective way of making you feel as if you're the most important person there. The Cast Members have never failed to find ways to exceed our high expectations of them.
We're just not sure how many more chances we'll have to go there...

Stay at the Mt. Rushmore KOA its a really great park and just down the road from the faces. (Do click on the link as they have a cool drone shot of the campground as the background.) Yeah the sites are a little close together but you're not there to stay at the campground anyway (they have a bus that will take you to Mt. Rushmore if you don't have a vehicle with you).


The Black Hills and South Dakota was our very first "long distance" camping trip with our first trailer.

On your way to Mt Rushmore you have to stop at a few places:

• Blue Earth, MN to see the Jolly Green Giant
• Mitchell, SD to see the Corn Palace (or not, its kind of corny)
• The Badlands
• Wall Drug--just to see it
• Pigtail Bridges
• Keystone, SD
• Custer State Park
• Crazy Horse
• Deadwood
• Then keep going West for Devil's Tower
• Of course if you really go West you get to Yellowstone
