THOR #27786
2012 Four Winds 25C slide out

Half the screws that hold the Schwintek h column to the wall of my 25C have broken off. I am going to install new self tapping screws. Literature calls for #10, but no length is specified. I drilled a small pilot hole, and after it goes through the h column, it goes through fiberglass for about 5mm, then there is about 20mm of space until it hits anything else solid.
Are the screws that long (30 mm or more), or do they just screw into the h column and fiberglass (and thin layer of plywood)? That doesn't seem like much to hold the h columns to me.
Thor tech support told me the wall for the cutout is framed with aluminum tubing. Maybe that's what I'm hitting 30mm in?
Thanks
