Question 2020 Compass Mercedez

After owning this RV for a few months the rear could use alot more ground clearance. I just about bottom out or scrape everywhere. Now Ive seen other Mercedez C class RVs such as the winnebago and the rear has much better ground clearance, and the rear bottem of the coach is angled as well. With that being said is there a way to raise the rear on my Compass? A solid 3 inch lift would be ideal IMO. Thank you for your help.

We have a 2007 Four Winds Siesta 24 SA on a Sprinter chassis. When we first got it we bottomed out coming out of some gas stations. Horrible noise when it happens on your new coach. The worst was going into my brothers drive to get to the back of his house. The road is high in the middle and his drive is really steep. Going in was bad enough but coming out I had to stop as my wife and my brother were both screaming and the coach actually stopped, hung up. When I got out to look my exhaust pipe had dug into the road and my hitch was touching the road. I had to go back up the drive a little and put a 2 x 6 in the low area to make the back end clear. When we got back home I ordered Sumo spring bumpers for the rear and had a muffler shop move the exhaust from coming out the back to the side. Now very infrequently does anything ever hit on the back, even at my brothers house.

How about a set of air shocks for those questionable situations?
If you slide a 3" lift under ut: think about how tall that first step into the coach will be...

Hi Harry thank you. Does the Sumo spring raise the rear that much? I didnt know.

Sumo doesn't lift.
It's just a cushion to take up space between the springs and the frame rail.
It's an oversized bumpstop.
And
There are rollers available that plug into your tow hitch. They hit first and roll instead of drag.
A warning.
Too fast and it can lift your rear wheels high enough for you To lose traction.

In my case I agree they do not lift the coach, but I had to lift the coach by the chassis to get the Sumo's in and when I lowered it back down the Sumo's touched the chassis before the full weight was on the springs, so the rear of the coach was definitely higher than before them. It may not be a lot but in my case it was enough to stop the hitch from dragging in my brothers driveway and on exiting a lot of fuel stations.

I too installed Sumos in the rear and Front. It helped stop the side to side sway going in/out of driveways and well as the side motion whenever being passed by larger trucks on the road. They were easy to self install. As Duckface said, they fill the large gap between the frame and suspension.

I've also got them on my Sprinter, and they really do help to improve the handling.
