2021 Thor Daybreak body to chassis bolts
Long story short, I’ve been chasing a slide “catching” issue for a few months now. When extending my passenger side slide the front side of it would “catch” on something and wouldn’t extend. I was able to apply some gentle pressure against it and it would extend properly.
This has been driving me nuts, after many failed attempts to find the problem today I decided to “check the bolt” I could see raising up under the floor inside the house. When I got under there this bolt was the bolt that holds the floor of the RV to the cross bars which bolt to the van chassis. I was able to turn it by hand, it had a 1/4” gap it had backed off so bad. Not one to shy away from a good time, I decided to check all of them. Yup, every single one was loose to some degree.
After tightening them all up as snug as possible I put the rig back flat and tried the slide…no more issues! I couldn’t believe it, I tried it a second time, still good!
My question to you all is, do you normally check these bolts in your maintenance plans? Should these be torqued or is “DT” tight enough? I’m thinking of applying blue loctite…any reason why I shouldn’t?
I haven’t driven the rig yet, but I’m also wondering if this will help some of the “sway” I’ve been fighting by throwing money at suspension parts…while better, if the house isn’t bolted down to the frame I feel like it could be contributing…YAY Thor quality!
P.S. one of my cross bars does not have the same two bolts that ALL the others do, I’m wondering if this was by design or they just “forgot” to drill and bolt it on this one.
