2022 Ford E-Series “scalloped” engine cover

First pictures I have seen of the new 2022 Ford E-Series “Scalloped” engine cover. It was revised to improve leg and foot room since 7.3L V8 is physically narrower than previous 6.8L V10.

It appears modification was much greater on passenger side compared to driver side. It also appears that the body/floor was not revised and that upgrade is limited to the engine cover itself.

First question many will ask is if it can be retrofitted to 2021 E-Series with 7.3L V8. Does not look to me like it would fit over a V10 at all.

P.S. — These pictures are of a commercial Cutaway, hence vinyl floor.

That looks like a real improvement.
Will it retrofit into a 2021?
We need some measurements...
But it costs nothing to hope for the best!

Looking at it closer, this new engine cover may make a significant difference on the passenger side. I still don’t see much improvement on the driver’s side.

Below is picture of a previous motorhome taken from high and behind engine, showing how intrusive engine cover is for passenger. I’d like to see same angle with new engine cover.

The “scalloped” passenger-side rear corner starts to the left of the doghouse clamp on floor, and tappers across to clamp near firewall. Ford removed quite a bit more on passenger side than I first thought.

It is unfortunate that Ford wouldn’t rework the sheet metal to make entire doghouse much narrower like it is on Chevy vans.

The drivers seat in that photo looks like it is slid forward on the tracks. While my last class c was not roomie in the cab, it was adequate for me and the wife. This new doghouse setup looks like an improvement.

Just wanted to share that new engine doghouse/cover on E-350 and E-450 is starting to appear on RV lots. Thanks to RV Trader site, the following picture from a dealer shows a better angle. Same dealer has the older engine cover on different motorhome, but picture is unfortunately from slightly different elevation. Seats appear in different position also.

After owning E-Series motorhomes for over 20 years combined, I have to say that engine doghouse intrusion into passenger space is one of the few things that bothers me significantly, particularly on passenger side. I just hope improvement is greater than it looks on pictures.
