Kitchen Sink Drain

We have a 2021 Thor Four Winds 31W, the kitchen sink drains very slow water stays near the sink drain.

The dealership said they modified per Thor techs but no improvement.

Any suggestions this would also be the piping design on a Chateau.

Does this problem happen with the slide both in and out... assuming the sink is on the slide?

Some of the Class C’s have this issue when the slide is in because the flexible tubing goong to the gray tank gets kinked / pinched.

It may be the angle of the picture, but it looks like the drain piping is the same level as the drain basket so it would drain slower than normal & you probably see standing water in the p trap looking into the sink.
Show a picture of the other end of that pipe to see if it could be lowered.

Looks that way to me as well.

Can you take a picture of the far end of the drain pipe? Wonder if they drilled a hole too high and it doesn't allow for correct flow.

Sink Drain

Drains the same slide in or out. Drain is almost level with drain line.

Have about a quarter inch of pipe (down drain pipe) that could be reduced dealer said would not significantly make any improvement of a downward slop where line from sink goes to the down drain pipe.

Dealer indicated would require a major replumbing to correct, not warranty approved.

You might want to call Thor and talk to them yourself.

I was thinking the same thing, looks like the drain pipe looks to be too high.

The horizontal drain must be below the bottom of the drain basket. Call a plumber.

We have discussed getting a plumber, but since this is a new unit under two months old we were hoping Thor would resolve or approve a third party plumber.

This is a poor design hopefully not implemented in their production line for Four Winds and Chateau.

Thor is gonna tell you to take it to a dealer. If you take it to the dealer you will not see it for six months. Handle it yourself in one afternoon.

Kitchen Sink Drain

2019 Chateau looks like it has the same drain configuration. Water drains but it is slow and we can see water in the trap when it is fully drained. Had our only local RV dealer (not a Thor dealer) look at it and they said it would be a big job to reconfigure.

The P-trap will always have water in it. You should always see water in the trap. It is there to keep the tank smells out of the RV. The horizontal drain pipe is too high.

Thanks. I would have hoped a better plumbing design would have been in place by now.

Definitely, having water in the p-trap is a good thing. I think what gets people concerned is being able to see the water in the trap because it is so high unlike a home sink there you can't see the water in the trap.

First check if the pipe vent is clear. Air must be behind water. The vent pipe on the roof needs to be open. Second if the pipe is horizontal and not sloping down, then it is an assembly/design error. All drain pipes need to slope 1/4 inch minimum up to three inches maximum per foot. So if there isn't at least 1/4 inch per foot, it was a assembly or design error.
