Black Water tank not reading correctly

I have a 2019 Freedom Elite 22 FE. Today noticed that black water tank is empty and it's reading as it was 2/3 full.

How can that be reset?

Flush and clean the tank.

The black water sensors are notorious for inaccurate readings. You'll see that complaint on every RV forum.

The "stuff" in the black tank hangs off the sensors and completes a circuit even when the tank is empty. Cleaning the tank will get rid of that (if your RV has a flush system use it).

Thanks for info. Will do that.

My experience is that this contraption works best.
That is, the flush system on my rig doesn’t do a complete job.
But this device works everytime! (Knock on wood)

Worth a try but it’s not unusual for these to always read incorrectly. After a while you’ll get to where you can tell how full they are without the indicator. You’d think they’d work but they don’t always.

We've had 6-7 rvs in the past 40+ years & can say we've never owned one that those sensors told you anything other than it has a pretty little red light.
You can rinse, flush, add all kinds of magic elixirs & they might work once. Don't drive yourself nuts trying to fix something that's never gonna work for more than one fill up.

Black Water tank not reading corrwctly

I just don’t worry about whether the black tank sensors are working or not. I’ve got 1-1/2 baths and two 40 gallon black tanks, and it’s usually just my wife and me in the coach. If our trip is less than two weeks, I’ll do a single black tank flush at the end of the trip. If it’s longer than two weeks, I’ll dump every ten days or so, depending on our travel schedule. Hasn’t been a problem yet.

I kinda wish they had put in smaller black tanks and larger grey tanks. The grey tanks (2 x 40 gallon) fill up in a couple of days.

I keep thinking that adding Calgon to the tank might just make everything a bit "slipperier", and less likely to stick...

Ice

After we dump at the campground, we pour our leftover ice down the toilet. By the time we get home the ice is melted and the sensors are clean and work perfectly.

Someone told me this years ago, try it.

"slipperier"
Is that a word? Will I get away with it in Scrabble?

The only times I've ever put ice down a toilet... after processing it though my kidneys after a couple of scotch on the rocks!

Like others have said, don't worry about the black tank sensors. We learned early on that the tank sensors are notorious for their inaccuracy. We dump our tanks once a week and ignore the sensors. Just make sure you use plenty of water when flushing the toilet.

If you camp in the be climates we did that ice is mostly melted before you pull out of the site, unless you're dumping 50-100lbs. But that melted ice adds more liquid which good for the black tank.

Don't give it a second thought: we all start out a whole lot less sure of ourselves.

No one's laughing at you, maybe having fun at your expense. but not laughing at you. We all started somewhere, some of us before Al Gore invented the internet.
