Child Safety Covers for Stove

We have a 2024 Four Winds 24F. We need covers for the stove knobs even though we're adults! We've each managed to bump and twist a knob, letting the propane flow. The second time it built up until the alarm went off.

Searching Amazon, it seems like all the safety covers that will fit the large knobs require the knobs be removed for installation. The owners manual says the knobs can be removed, but we've both tried to pull them off without success. Does anyone know the trick to getting the knobs off? Or know of a safety cover that will fit without removing them?

We're trying to be more careful, but we also have two dogs, and there's always the risk one of them could hit a knob accidentally.

What model stove? Most are a friction fit but some have a small screw - often hard to find unless you exactly where to look.

Been there done that MANY times in our 24F... although caught it right after hitting the knob. I've yet to try removing the knobs, we just try to be more careful...

I know it's a hassle, but until you find a fix maybe just turn off the tank?? Then there's the issue of running the fridge if on propane.

I've often thought a better design would be to have topside knobs...

Some stove tops have a little 90 degree shutoff valve under the top cover where the incoming gas line connects to the range. If not there, consider installing one. Parts and pieces should be readily available at any bulk propane distributor. This will allow you leaving your gas turned on for fridge, furnace, water heater, etc.

If you're going to go through the trouble to install a shutoff, might as well install a solenoid operated shutoff with an easy to use switch.

Before remodelling our RV stove had a handle on the oven door that stuck out enough to minimize the chance of brushing against the gas control knobs (pic 1).

After remodelling, the cooktop I installed has a bar in front that does the same thing. We also use it to hang a towel (pic 2).

Does your stove not have something similar? If not, could it be added?

The stove is a Furrion FGR17G3A2-BG. I'm getting that from documentation. I have to go to the storage lot tomorrow and I'll get a pic and hopefully info from on the stove somewhere.

Fortunately, we don't need propane for the fridge. We may resort to just keeping it off until we get to a destination - then we need it for hot water.

We have a large handle on the oven door, but we've managed to hit those knobs in spite of it!

Those are the first thing I looked at, but they won't work. The fourth photo in the list shows several types of knobs they won't work with - ours are in that category. The knobs have a fixed trim ring all the way around. I'm going to try to get a picture tomorrow.

Remove knobs.
Install only thebones you're actually using during use.
Re-remove knobs.

Easy.

No special nothing needed.

If you have the LEDs, I figure your best bet is to remove the ring (and LED) attached to the base, then add whichever "proofing" you want. Furrion says you just pull the knob.
